Hello,

I'm in Japan and the RS4 docs do not mention anything about SS or SS+, these options might not exist here, or one of them might be standard on all RS4s sold here. Dealer doesn't seem to know. How can i tell if my 2006 avant has SS, SS+ or none ?

Thx !

Pretty sure the codes in the front of you delivery docs should state.
Someone on forum listed all the codes for various specs.
Try running a search.

hi guys

its good to know that most of you enjoy ss+ than the standard, but i do have to say i am also a proud owner of ss+ but within the last 6 months of owning the beast it has had 4 new shockers alround and then another 2 at the front 1 monthe ago. luckely it was all aunder warranty. asked the dealers why the fronts went, they said it may have been a bad batch. Cant complain coz as a cortesy car i got a brand new A8. only drove it for 1 day and a clumsey young lady hit me on the front! They should be banned after their first fault or non fault crash.
if anyone has audi road side always call them out as they give more of a match like for like car whilst yours is getting fixed.

Do you mean Audi Accident Assist rather than Roadside?

Jon its too hard for a daily ride compared to mine. It looks a little meaner though. Id very much doubt drivers of our capability would benefit much in the handling department....

I drove a non ss+ avant a year or so before buying my ss+ saloon and i have to say they both handled incredibly well. I have however managed to convince myself that ss+ makes my car handle better than anything else on the road.

guys - I do find the standard suspension a bit too soft and the ride is fine out of Town so I am thinking SS+ is the way forward

do you know how much a dealer would want to fit it and are there any recommended alternatives (either for fitment or for the actual suspension)?

cheers - jt

The standard system is absolutely superb (imho) on the avant. It allows the car to move around nicely, (even at highly illegal speeds on country lanes.) It's a great compromise, if you're happy with your car control.

However, if you're the sort of bloke (or bloke-ette) who likes their car totally planted (& some do), then go for SS+.

At the end of the day it's always going to be a trade off. Personal taste really.
