Agreed, would be a good one to remember 20 years down the line an I'll kick myself if I never do it (although imagine it might be that little more special again with someone elses sport car and petrol card.... Bast@tds!)

Ive done it !! On a fireblade, its almost too much to take in while doing it at a good pace on a motorcycle,i found myself starstruck by the scenery on one occasion and went into a hairpin a little hot,it is simply AWESOME

its my 40th next year so wouldnt mind doing something spectacular.

failing this take the Ur quattro to Ingolstadt for the 30th anniversary instead.

later in the year the better for me!!

could you give me a guestimate to costs please?
Likewise, my 40th next year to0 & i'm well up for this trip so please add me on. May is looking fairly OK.

Would likely not get away alone (if you know what i mean) as the brake wants to take some Ring laps & is dying to visit the Italian Lakes so may have to factor that in.

Also i'd rather limit daily miles to no more than 300 as that 1st day of 600 (plus i'd be driving down from the North West) is a big day & don't forget the Mainland also suffers traffic congestion. I'd stretch it out by a day or 2 to ease the stress a little.
Paul,

I'm travelling down from the North East and will be staying somewhere near Folkestone the night before or at the htoel Folkestone services, getting plenty of sleep ready for the early start. I'd like to keep it to 5 days as I believe I'll need a day either side to get from / to the North East to Folkestone and as I'm doing this myself without wife and kids, I couldn't get away with 8 days away.

The first day gives us 14 hours to do 600 miles and two laps of the Ring and then a half rest day with a tour of the Audi Factory. Another day would be ideal however as it is is achievable. If you have a co-driver even moreso and the two 300 mile sections are nearly all autoroute/autobahn so progress should be short and swift.

I do totally understand with time off restrictions, but even having done close to 200 laps of The Ring, i'd not want to drive it after a 600 mile trip down & 300 miles the day before, that will leave anyone far too tired to wanna risk Nordschleife.

I may look to sail Hull to Rotterdam & meet you at The Ring as it's 100 miles for me to Hull, then an overnight mini cruise then only 200 miles to Nurburg, done that many many times & i'd arrive pretty fresh. Once dates are confirmed i'll look at options from the North. I'd also be wanting to spend a few days at The Italian Lakes as that's the incentive to nail the deal at home 8)

A thousand apologies if this is already a given but is the trip open to the ’other-halves’ or is it purely a lads trip?

OK for the B5 and RS6 owners the more the merrier, please feel free to sign up. As for other halves, no problem with that either, if anything it'll share out the driving for some.

Paul, completely understand your concerns. I'm not expecting everyone to stick rigidly to the proposed schedule but to meet up at the Ring and perhaps break away from the group at Zurich but keep the core activities for everyone may be the best option, i.e. Ring trip, Ingolstadt, Davos to Stelvio, Lake Como to St. Moritz through to Zurich. Would you other half not consider doing the Ring to Ingolstadt drive?

Someone also mentioned the col di turini (if I have written that correctly) but looking at the route that is a lot of extra miles over and above what has already been included.

Hope that answers most queries, I'm seriously looking forward to this, it'll be cracking! 8)

That would work, it's just the 1st day that would be a push & wanting to spend more time at Lake Como as she's been papping on about going there for months now & this gives me the excuse. She defo wants to experience Nordschleife & the rest of the agenda looks good. North Sea crossing is the quickest route for me to Nurburg & in total only just over 300 miles spread across 2 days.

The route from Rotterdam to Nurburg is a real giggle (about 10 tunnels) & very straight forward.

So i'd go for meeting you at Nurburg, spanking a few laps & then follwoing the relative route/agenda until arriving at The Lakes where we'd stay for a couple of days before returning home.
