I'm in the process of buying an 0606 RS4. I've done research on here (great help by the way - cheers). When I had my first test drive the other day, when I pushed the 'S' button on the steering wheel I was expecting the seat to squeeze me in and the exhaust noise to be massive. Neither really happened.
Should I be able to feel the seats? And does the exhaust noise change that much? Any comments would be great.
What a car by the way! Can't wait to get my hands on one to drive every day!

Sharpens up throttle response, opens the exhaust valve at more places in the rev range, moves the side bolsters on those cool seats you have in the UK. Pay attention next drive
Before you buy, get the DRC shocks checked for leaking. Clever suspension but with a flaw.
And I am completely unqualified to answer your questions, but no one else did. My exhaust is changed, my coils/shocks are changed, ECU is reprogrammed and we have the fat ass seats in the US!

Cheers RS! I'm going down to the dealer on Thursday to have another drive and to test all the toys in the car and make sure everything is OK.
And I was paying attention! In that thing if you don't I imagine you'd end up round a tree somewhere. I was just looking forward to more side bolster action and exhaust noise. Like you say though, maybe it'll be better a second time of driving once I'm more used to it.
Thanks for taking the time to answer though. Does anyone else have anything to add please? I know they're probably silly questions to those in the know but I'd like to know before parting with £30k+!

Seat bolster inflation can be switched off in the dis (in between speedo/rev), so this might be the problem there.
Best way to check the exhaust valves is to look up exhaust with a torch when idling and they should be closed, press "S" button, then relook, they should be open.
They do reclose for "town" gears and rev range though, just work nicelly when giving it some stick through the gears higher up!
As for the throttle response, i've never seen a big difference overall, just sometimes you can tell, for instance when slowing down from a high speed drive into town, then it can become more jerky.

my seat bolsters are not switched on (not that I mind) and I also don't find a big difference in the throttle response with S button engaged.
If you start the car, open the drivers door and then just pop your head out the door and press the button you can hear the valve opening when you press the S button.

A fair point, well made there Doc! I'll remember that. Learning all the time. Only 5 more days until I see it again and hopefully drive it away now!
On a different issue - sorry for all the questions - I'm asking as I think. Is the TV tuner digital or not? The dealer didn't know. I therefore suspect that it's analogue and is going to be switched off soon. Does anyone know for sure?

If no one comes up with an owners manual, this will keep you happy for a while...Phil3103 wrote:Does anyone have a pdf of the owners manual for the B7 RS4 by any chance?

lol. F-me. Gone are the days when you could do basic maintenance yourself! The bonnet on these cars should be see through (like they did with the F50?)! It's luuuuurvley!
Cheers JT for the feedback on sport mode and TV tuner. Let's face it, nobody buys a car like an RS4 to watch tele in it! It's just a nice to have (while it still works!).
I'm planning my route back up to Manchester up through Derbyshire. Some good roads there and some reasonable places to stop and let people admire my new toy I think. And hopefully I won't have lost my licence by the time I get home! Fingers crossed!

But it can be swapped for the Audi hybrid (analog/digital) tuner.jonathonturner wrote:tv tuner is analogue and is <beep>.
Even without the bucket seats the Sport button changes the throttle mapping - but it is very subtle - and enables the exhaust flaps, and if you can't hear the difference in exhaust sound between normal and Sport mode especially at tickover and in 4th, 5th and 6th gears then you've been listening to too much loud musicjonathonturner wrote:sport button does next to nowt and is <beep>.
