Please check my Dyno results and let me know what you think!

Post by dankone » Sun Aug 09, 2009 3:44 am

I brought my 07 RS4 to GMG racing today in Orange County CA. Had a few Dyno runs with them to see how my all stock car was performing. It has about 40k on the clock and i bought it CPO so I was curious how it was running.

Let me know what you think. It was a mustang dyno

If that`s engine hp you are 50-60 hp shy of usual numbers.

Is that on US fuel? From my trips over the pond the octane rating of the fuel over there is a lot lower. We run super in the UK which is 97 octane minimum. This'll make quite a difference IMHO.

The octane rating is lower but their 93 equal to our 98. Even if it were tested on 91 that is not to justify the power deficiency.

bah I hate it. Same thing happened to me when I posted my dyno plots. Basically no one is answering because they all want you to read the previous posts about this.... As in : it`s been discussed before. I personally think reading 16 pages of forum threads just to get your answer is a bit exhaustive.

Fair enough, just a thought.

if that is wheel power, you are good...~305 + 100 in losses ~405, rated at 414
if it is engine power, ie, calculated with some mysterious loss factor, you have a problem...

we measure octane mon+ron/2
in europe it's only ron
so add 4 to 5 to US numbers to get ~ ron or euro numbers...

so 93 (US) ~ 97-98 in europe

problem is in California (where the OP tested) you can only get 91
so if he made 305 wheels, plus average losses of 100 (as MEASURED on other dynos) he's at ~405, which would be good

the dyno is kind of weak: no cf's, temp.humid, atm P,etc.
doesn't even state the car type

cool, thanks for some responses. I got it done because I felt like the car is hesitant at times and wanted to make sure im getting all the power possible.

And yes, we only have 91 octane here in Cali.

So there isnt a problem here? would you guys be happy with these results?

305 wheel hp on 91 octane sounds OK to me.

Not super high or super low, don't know if GMG's dyno has a rep for being conservative. Sure the 91 robs you of 5hp or so vs 93. If you want to compare, go down the road to GT-Pro in Fullerton, they have a Dynojet which many say (about Dynojet not GT-Pro) gives higher numbers. No one got big numbers when I went though, most everyone was disappointed. Take them all with a big pinch of salt anyway, with no/varied ram air you could get all sorts of result.
I got 330hp 280tq, full Milltek and Revo.
I don't know of any US dyno that does jiggery pokery on the numbers to create a pseudo crank figure. They didn't do that in the UK many years ago either.
