emmsions control system warning - light on today

Hi,

Could anyone give me an idea what this could be please?

Drove 350miles today without fault when sudenly the emmisions control warning light came on. I thought maybe this was the cat overheating but no such luck as its still on after several hours cooling down.

Any help would be great.

You will need to plug in VAG-Com and read off the fault code.
The light won't go off unless you clear the code.
It could be something quite minor, but the light will stay on until it is checked and cleared.

Literally hundreds of things can cause the emissions light to come on, as Glyn says you need to hook up VAG-COM to find out what the cause is.
