I don't know what a TT is. It looks like a sports car but isn't really. An RS4 is a saloon or Avant (ignore the wobbly cab) so has the practical element which is why I bought one. If I wanted an allround sportscar then a 911 or Lotus Evora would be good. I'm spoilt as I also have an Elise so I get best of both worlds. Still don't get the TT. Can I recommend a used BMW Z4M Coupe as an alternative to TTS or TTRS

TTS = 195 bhp / tonne (272 / 1.395)

TTRS (assuming same weight) = 243 bhp / tonne (340 / 1.395)

So the TTRS is already down on power to weight compared to the stock RS4 (255 bhp / tonne according to EVO), remap it, who knows what it will put out. I don't think its gonna make 400 bhp tho, if it did then its putting 286 bhp/tonne, which is prob more than an R8 (270 bhp / tonne) so is it gonna spank that too!!!???.

I dont think a remapped TTRS will spank a standard RS4 , it may just, maybe have the edge, but only just. Its already stated that its handling isnt great, so even on the twisty stuff its not going to be able to exploit its stock power to an advantage over the stock RS4, let alone after a remap with more power to put down. Dont get me wrong, I think the TTRS sounds like a great car, but an RS4 arse kicker, I doubt it very much. Just my opinion :P

When I say "I don't know what a TT is". I mean it's not a real sports car or practical like a saloon (or hatch). I wouldn't put it in the same class as a Cayman or Z4M Coupe which are sports cars, a TT doesn't drive like one.

Am I being harsh?

you missed my point! the point being that a standard RS4 is not 415bhp but more like 360 to 380 so a TTRS being a turbo'd car and going on past experiences of B5 RS4's and TT(8N) which all either hit or surpased the quoted numbers means in theory the new TTRS will be running 360+ BHP. I think the standard car will be very very close to an RS4 and with a good remap god knows how quick it will be. But I do think it will kick the RS4's arse IMO. maybe not mine but standard car yes...... Only time will tell but I've had run in's with Mk4 golf Turbo's running 300bhp + and it's scary how hard it is to get away and what little difference there is.

May have to book a test drive. :thumbs:

You say it's 360-380bhp (based on RR data), but other people say it's 400+bhp (based on acceleration data).

Well Dave, you have your view and on the knowledge I have gained, I have mine! Audi know the car doesn't hit the numbers and I have spoken to many people about it from MT to sales managers etc about that fact who agree. Any tuning company will say the same. If the RR results are bullsh1t then Audi wouldn’t have given Varsity his money back. The RS4 has lots of problems as we now know. you may think your car is running perfectly (and it may well be) as do many others on here but it's only when you go in another car that is 100% healthy that you see or notice the difference. A number of cars from the RR day in April didn't even know they had problems until after their runs and have since had their cars fixed, in some cases new engines put in! So I think you are being a little bit narrow minded to say it's not a fact that RS4's under produce. in some cases it clearly is a FACT.........

That said I don't want to get into a slagging match with you Dave as I respect your input on this forum, but hope you can see my point now. :thumbs:

And we agree on that. What I disagree with is the way you said, without qualification, that RS4s don't produce 415bhp but produce 360-380bhp. Some undoubtedly do, but not all.

We can agree on that, a 360bhp turbo engine remapped should be capable of producing well over 400bhp and given that the TTRS is lighter than an RS4 then it's a no-brainer that a remapped TTRS should be quicker than a stock RS4 (more power and less weight).

But then is comparing a tweaked car against a stock car a fair comparison?
