New Windscreen required!!

Post by chrissyr32 » Sun Jul 19, 2009 9:27 pm

Well,

Had a very heated debate with my girlfriend last night (in drink) and the down side is she decided to pepper my car with a hand full of gravel!!!

Luckily body work has a few marks that will buff out..

BUT

the windscreen hasnt survived!! F**k!!!

Anyway guys, going to have to get one do you think i should just go to Autoglass etc or a proper Audi one?

Cars out of warranty etc anyway now so is an aftermarket one just as good?? Also is it just a standard A4 screen??

Cheers.

P.S Girlfriend forgiven!!!

When I talked to Autoglass recently about changing rear glass I was told that they get the glass from the same factory that make it for Audi, just doesn't have the Audi logo on it.

I'd say 'new girlfriend required' also :D

all glass is made by the same company, Audi does not make glass...just make sure it's the same brand as on the car now (Saint-Gobain iirc) and that it's installed correctly...

btw, how old is she?

I think the question is about the quality of the fitters.

Im in the same boat, got a bad chip but havent had it swapped as I dont want my windscreen to look like and add on!!!

Had autoglass out to a fleet of vans before - nightmare!!

I had a stone chip and I've just had Autoglass fit a new screen. It's proper Audi (with rain sensor) exactly the same as before. Fitted correctly at High Wycombe, no problem.

Go wih Autoglass. Just insist they fit a genuine Audi windscreen (logo stamped on drivers side with the 4 rings) - should cost you no more on insurance as the excess is the same either way.
