HIGH MILEAGE - buying a used RS4

Post by psg001 » Fri Jul 03, 2009 7:28 am

Hi guys,

as I've posted before am looking for an RS4. How many miles have you lot got on yours?

SHould I be concerned about buying a car with over 40,000 miles on the clock?

this one is a good price -->

but its RED! was after something a bit more discrete like black or grey.

Looks nice I wouldn't be concerned with 38,000 miles, especially considering the car is an early model (55 plate) over 3 yrs old so an average of 12k miles a yr- normal mileage IMO

40k miles does not classify as high miles in my book, when I read the post I thought you'd found one with 100k+ LOL!

As always, full service history (Audi or specialist)is essential (along with receipts if available) and speaking to the previous owner(s) will tell you a lot about the car.

Check history and buy with confidence :)

Remember also that if you are a low mileage user you will get a double benefit; reduced price when buying, as higher mileage then better price when selling as lower mileage by the time you sell it 8)

am going to see it this afternoon/evening.

the colour is starting to grow on me actually.

the salesman said it was the lower price in the tax bracket because its Feb 2006, thats crazy, same engine as the 2007 model or other later 2006 models but £215 road tax as opposed to £400+.

To be honest, I dont care about the price of the tax, if its a good car and I can get a good deal on it (going in with cash offer) I might just take it.

Red is quite a common colour on the A4 and I think it hides the fact that its an RS4 quite well as the badge is red so it will stand out as a red car but not necessarily as an RS4!

If you're after a red one - the engine in this one has only done 1000 miles, and it has new brakes all round, and never suffered any DRC issues. Also has a new drivers seat which can start to look tatty after 3 years. The Audi warranty is no longer available but it can come with a warranty if needed. I'd have a look - it's immaculate. Can also provide a dyno to prove the engine is mint... not clogged up like most 30k+ rs4s.

I went to see this car I posted a link to above and it was terrific. Looked really nice in red, better than the black one they had in! Played hardball with them on the price and have got myself a great deal so am buying it!! So pleased, its was absolutely bloody fantastic to look at, sit in, listen too and drive. Will post up some pictures in a new thread when I have it in the next few wks.

red rs4

Post by Angelo_Amato » Sat Jul 04, 2009 1:38 am

congrats.

saw this car and another 56 sprint blue one they had last week (wasn't on the website tho)

for the 'age and mileage' looked very good and clean, don't think i saw any obvious stonechips either.

discs/pads looked good too.

for the price and road tax saving, this would of been my choice i reckon, just not my time yet !

did you manage to get any warranty out of them ? they seem to get a few rs's in so may well be shopping there in the future (all going to plan!)
