Buyer Guide for an 06 plate RS4?

Post by GTO_NEMESIS » Sat Jun 27, 2009 9:39 pm

Hi!
Decided to buy an RS4 Saloon from my local Audi Trader and we have a test drive scheduled for Monday is there anything in particular I should be looking at other than the usual stuff?

I have looked for a buyers guide on here but can't find one?

This is the car I planning to get.
Plan to use the car as a daily driver as we are trading in our S Class but looking forward to something a little more sporty for the commute to work!

This is the car:

Any pointers greatly appreciated.
I'm quite into trackdays & dynodays ect too so if the club does any of these I would be interested in attending them.

Thanks
Mark

It seems a cheap car but bear in mind it has no sat nav, bucket seats and has a high mileage.
If your happy with that, then good luck.

Theres a few things missing off most peoples "must have" list ie buckets/tech pack. The silver leather is an aquired taste that may make the car a little harder to sell on.Fontain arent daft and have priced with this in mind (they have sold similar mileage rs4s for nearer 30k) spec is always personal but some things are essential to preserve resale value. If you like the car and spec negotiate hard and definatly get new front discs and pads as you can see in the photo a hefty wear lip on the discs.Theyre amazing cars you will love it

Hi guys thanks for the welcome and the replies.

They are going to include a 1 Yr fully inclusive warranty (Excluding tyres ect.
Not too fussed on the SAT NAV as I never use the one in the S Class as I prefer my TomTom with the traffic/speed camera info ect.

As for the seat, I personally prefer the silver over the black and I went for the Silver option when buying the S Class too.

I will speak to them about the brakes. It has recently been serviced but I will look into what was done.
Servicing costs should be fine as I am use to paying £800-£1000 at Mercedes and they are pretty shoddy to be honest!

Are there any know faults that I should look for on the test drive?

Thanks
Mark

Unussual clunking from suspension (DRC), clutch travel, brake vibration are the main things to look for on test route. Then get under the car (most dealers will put it on the ramps) and do a visual check (tyre wear / signs of grounding / shock leaks).

Let us know how you get on.

Nice car for 25k.

However I feel you may have cold feet after a few months of ownership and that you wished you had the SATNAV, it prob does not have he adaptive lights too, for a few K more you "could" get a fully specked one, don't rush in. Good Luck
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Sat Nav can be retrofitted for £500, and you will need it to sell
