RE: Clutch stop for RS4?
Cars with manual transmissions (excluding paddle shift technologies like SMG or DSG) have clutch pedals with tons of "space" between the floor and the actual pedal. This requires the driver to learn where the engagement point is on the car. A clutch stop reduces this unnecessary "space", allowing the driver to adjust the ideal point of reference where the clutch pedal stops just after the clutch mechanism disengages. Basically, this translates into quicker, cleaner, smoother shifts.
Most cars have a Clutch stop (buffer) built in however these can be replaced with the said items, I have seen them placed in others cars esp for track use.

RE: Clutch stop for RS4?
Well I was looking into short shifts for the car, and then remembered about the clutch stop upgrade, I know they are popular on tracked BMW, My friend had one in his M3, and he said it totally changed the way he drove, when you dip the clutch it only goes down as far as the biting point, this enables you to be rather aggressive/quick on the gear changes with even having to worry about the location of the engagement point. it does however feel strange when you first start to drive with it, you need to build confidence.

RE: Clutch stop for RS4?
So, a good idea then -- does anyone know if the clutch position is adjustable?

Re: RE: Clutch stop for RS4?
One would think it has to be adjustable unless it's made specifically for RS4 and even that I think every RS4 will have a slightly different friction point.ghoonk wrote:So, a good idea then -- does anyone know if the clutch position is adjustable?
Question is : will the use of clutch stop have detrimental effect on the clutch itself long term since you only depress the clutch stopping just at / below friction point? I guess not but can Sonny clarify? Thanks.

@Ozrs4: I don't know the answer to that question, I would at a guess say not, as the clutch clears the biting point, its set a few millimeters below biting point.

Thanks Sonny. One more thing came to my mind is will the clutch stop prevent us from starting the engine if the clutch is not "fully" depressed?

Well, I checked it and it has to be pretty much fully depressed in order to start the engine. Oh well, it was a good thought.

Surely moving the switch or bypassing it should be easy...?
