What cars are RS4 B7 Owners moving to?
As a former RS4 owner not a single day has gone by without me wishing that I hadn’t sold my car. It’s been just over two years since I made that fatal mistake of selling, this can mainly be attributed to the fact that I was going to become a dad for the first time and I panicked. My daughter is now nearly two years old……..and boy oh boy do I have itchy feet. (hind sight is 20/20)
Anyway reason for my post: I test drove the new S4 B8 saloon for the most part today, it’s more than likely the best car I have personally driven since the B7. I liked the build quality, from the rear the car looks OK……from the front I like the new styling……however once I started to drive the car something was missing.
I did not get that same emotional connection that was instantly there when I test drove the RS4 nearly 3 years ago. The acceleration, the torque, the sound it was all so wonderful.
Have I been spoiled by the B7 RS4? Am I placing the bar too high for the new S4? I’m keen to understand if I’m just going nuts or have other owners found suitable replacements for their beloved RS4’s.
Should I be looking at the M3 Saloon while I wait for Audi to produce another car capable of invoking the same levels of emotion?

RE: What cars are RS4 B7 Owners moving to?
I'm not planning on moving on for a while. I do like the GT-R but there still isn't a better all rounder at present imho.
C63 AMG seems to get a few votes for a comparible car. Otherwise R8 V10, GT-R are the others you hear. Oh and also C6 RS6. Never hear much about RS4 owners changing to M3's or the IS-F? I would have a CTS-V if they made it properly for the UK.
Saying that my local dealer were saying that they had just sold their C6 RS6 saloon to a customer with a C63 as p/x which the customer had only had for 4 weeks, he disliked it that much. Drove all the way from London too to do the trade up.

I have everything crossed for the B9 to be a twin Turbo. if it is then problem solved I wouldn't even look at anything else
If not a may be thinking 997 turbo or new M5 bi turbo. don't like what the M3 has become. but would much rather stay in an RS4.

I was planning on selling the RS4 for a RS2 but soon fell in love with it again when I got back in her (was overseas for 3 months), so now I have a new MOT, warranty and "mods en-route" I will be keeping hr now, at least for another 2 years I reckon...easy I have no reason to sell her. however the mind does wonder and was looking at R8s, however they are not exactly practical and would require a second car IMO if money was no object and my garage was bit enough then it would have to be the AMG SL65 Black series http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArtic ... SL/233833/ , I absolutely love this car (£250k bit of a stinger). As said above, I would most pron trade i my RS4 for the next Gen RS4 when it comes out.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

I can’t see a direst replacement for the RS4 at the moment. 4-doors, reasonable boot, 5-seats, V8 and stacks of power. I use mine every day for work and get an allowance for it but it must be able to take clients around in it. Also, to the uninitiated, its an Audi A4 with nice wheels! Its not in your face and doesn’t look like a drug smugglers car (M3 with privacy glass!).
RS5 sound good but 2 doors doesn’t fit well for the work criteria, think I’ll be keeping mine until the new RS4 comes out……when will that be?

In the interests of planning (very) far ahead - two years, methinks - I took it upon myself to test drive a Granturismo S Automatic on Saturday; nice, and a much greater sense of occasion than the RS4 (and what a noise!!!), but maybe doesn't tick as many boxes as the RS4 does (or, rather, it ticks different ones).
The very reason I bought one too. to those who know what it is it's great to others..... oh he drive a nice audi. not like turning up in a speed yellow 911 which is what I wanted!!pad125 wrote: Also, to the uninitiated, its an Audi A4 with nice wheels! I hope it is better than the original Masser GT because having had a drive in that when it first came out it lacked guts and is a heavy car albeit a beautifully crafted one. Not too big in the rear though.svassileou wrote:In the interests of planning (very) far ahead - two years, methinks - I took it upon myself to test drive a Granturismo S Automatic on Saturday; nice, and a much greater sense of occasion than the RS4 (and what a noise!!!), but maybe doesn't tick as many boxes as the RS4 does (or, rather, it ticks different ones).

I drove a Maserati Gransport a couple of years ago ago; a beautiful-looking car but automated manual gearbox meant clutch life of 6,000 miles on average, plus I couldn't get comfy in the seats.
The GTSA moves the game on; auto gearbox with paddleshift, 4.7 litre engine, three year unlimited mileage warranty, servicing every 12,000 miles or every other year. Boot could be bigger, though, and seats could provide more lateral support. Heavy car too but performance is more than good enough on the road.
Anyway, I've got at least a couple of years to think about it.
