How long to carry out battery tray recall ?
The "TOOL" seems to be in Scotland ! I've been told Audi need the car for 2 days. Is this normal ? Thanks in advance for info.

RE: How long to carry out battery tray recall ?
My car has been to dealers Jan, for service and recall. No parts. Feb for recall, no parts. March MOT and recall, no parts !! Any one had the recall done and how long did it take? Thanks H.T.

Mine's getting done today, went in last night along with first MOT. If it needs it then they have to keep it all day for the seal to settle I was told.

RE: How long to carry out battery tray recall ?
I had the battery recall done, had to keep the car over night. Had the parts in stock though as it was a routine service, they also changed both the front shocks, not sure why these guys have stock of everything and other dealers take weeks to order.
RE: How long to carry out battery tray recall ?
It is not actually a recall - which to be fair refers to a serious/safety modification, which this is not.
Not all vehicles are affected.
It takes a day for the gunk they use to seal the crack to set, hence the 2 days.

I have had the recall but not booked it in yet.

RE: Re: RE: How long to carry out battery tray recall ?
The recall is actually split into 3 groups depending on the severity of the damage to the battery tray. I've now carried out 2 of these recalls.
The 1st is if the battery tray has no cracks - it's repaired just using the special adhesive to prevent any damage.
The 2nd is if there are minor cracks - same as the 1st but a special plate will be riveted on to stengthen the area.
The 3rd is if the cracks are bigger than 2nd group tolerance. In this case photos will need to be sent to Audi technical for them to assess the severity and whether it can be repaired in the dealership or bodyshop.
The 2 special tools needed are about £350 each! And they're only used by dealers for this recall. In our dealership network, we have to share the tools between 5 sites.
