I'm now with MoreThan (actual insurer is Royal & Sun Allinace) who quoted me £454, this was after getting a renewal quote from my previous insurer of £905.
MoreThan wouldn't quote when I swapped an A4 1.9TDI 130 Sport to an S4 back in 2005 so I hadn't considered them before for the RS4. Guess I've crossed an "age boundary" since then...

Have you tried swiftcover? I insured with them last year and have had a renewal quote of £650. Im not on a London postcode, but Im mid 30's with a clean licence and 2 minor claims in the past 5 years which were my fault.
Everything is done online, so you get your certificate by email within 5 mins of insuring. Havent tried claiming but had no issues with customer service - they even text me to advise a renewal quote was available online.

Everyone is unique, just like you and me.

That's still quite pricey Victor; 35 years of age, 9 yrs protected ncb, been in two non fault accidents in the last five years with full third party recovery, 1x SP30, 15K miles of which 8K are class I business use and garaged for £738 with MoreThanvictor2vt wrote:Sainsburys cheapest for me and i scoured the whole net !klauster wrote:I would also try Sainsburys and Tescos as a comparison

My cover with Norwich Union fully comp and all the usual add-ons cost less than 400 big ones and that was 6 weeks or so ago! What I did do was volunteer a few hundred quid excess on top of the compulsory one for the RS4 - have you tried that option with any of them? Should make a reasonable difference to the premium.
But as an aside we had our insurance brokers in at work this week to re-new commercial insurances and it transpired from them that nearly all insurance companies are generally increasing premiums because of excessive losses in extra claims and the fact that since the credit crunch really bit and interest rates plummeted they are not able to counter balance their finances by off-setting some of the claims costs against good interest that they usually earnt on all their millions invested. The guess from the brokers was that this will continue for the forseeable future and we will all cop for increased premiums, and across all sectors, regardless of good claims records etc.
Sorry that sounds a bit gloomy, but a fact of life I guess in these uncertain times. Anyway I still think you should try the voluntary excess route - it just might do it for you. Good luck.

I'm with Privilege.... the best way to get your quote down is to play with the excess you are willing to pay, and the options you need........
personally saved myself about £300 by increasing the excess and getting rid of some of the options like breakdown cover (covered under Audi)! Obviously I'm fully aware that it's going to be more expensive if I make a claim but frankly I might as well keep my money until then!!!!!

Interesting, I’m with Direct Line; being 10years older than God (I’m43) would appear to make quite a difference, as all my circumstances are pretty similar to yours and my insurance this year (Feb09) was £750. I did tell them that my previous insurer had made me install a Tracker but not sure if they took that into account. I’ve had 1 no-fault accident when someone ran into the back of me on the motorway (its hard to be cross with a beautiful girl who wears a belt as a skirt!)
Sounds like there’s not much need for insurance companies to be competitive with cars in this sector, I think they’d just rather not insure cars of this calibre as they’re too much of a risk both with accidents and theft.

who do the nigerians get insured with? they must be cheap.... and they dont care how many accidents you have had, drive any motor you like, what licence you have got,how many points you have. maybe the way to go?

They might have annoying adverts, but confused.com found me a good deal with More Than. Around the 400 mark. I'm 37, full NCD. In fact it's my second year with them. Confused quoted me at less than my renewal with the same company!!! I hate insurance companies!! Always on the take. Just shows it's worth shopping around EVERY year.
p.s. More Than wouldn't quote me on my Exige, so I went to Admiral.

Some of you guys must be living in the middle of no-where
I got a quote for £1800+ from Morethan(my current insurer)
Tesco wanted £1400, despite me having at least 25yrs no claim, 3pts on speeding 4yrs ago.
I'm sure I could find someone cheaper if I look hard enough...
Funny thing was I got cheaper quote from Tesco for C63AMG !!!
