Smoking RS4

Post by otterolly » Mon Mar 16, 2009 9:26 pm

Hi Guys

great site with loads of good stuff on it

my first post !!

just got my first RS4, phantom black saloon 2007, I've had it 3 weeks now and have loved every minute. Got the ECU software update done last saturday, drove home and parked up on the drive where it stayed till sunday afternoon. I came to move it and when I started it up it looked like it was burning oil, blue tinged smoke coming from the exhausts. Is this a common thing with the RS4 ?? Could it be due to the software update ?? or is there something seriously wrong with the engine ??? Any information would be greatly appreciated, hopefully putting my mind at rest.

Thanks guys :D

Welcome,

Search through some of the old posts and you,ll find quite a bit on this subject. Dont worry it seems the norm to most of us.I strarted a thread a while back when i first got my RS4 on this issue!

My baby tends to do it when shes been stood for a couple of days, and also when doing quick stop start engine starts(in out of garage etc)
Seems normal just keep a check on oil level, these engines use serious oil!!! 1 litre every 1000 miles in some cases.

Dont panic!!!!!
