Frankly, while I am not unsympathetic to the environment (in most other areas including professionally I'll take a responsble view to what I can do for the environment which predominately results in benefiting to the local area/UK) I really don't see how cutting back on my motoring emissions will save the planet considering what's going on in India, China et al and interestingly enough the good ole US of A.

I'm on this planet for a fixed (but unknown) duration and I'm going to make sure I try to ensure every damn minute of it and if this means driving a 4.2 V8 10k miles per year then so be it.

Bit of a rant for my first 'real' post and slightly off topic so apologies up front but this type of sh!t really gets my hackles up.
Well said!!! I've always enjoyed driving powerful cars and when all this environmental scare stuff started appearing it didn't take long to discover that's it's all a load of boll..ks. The IPCC model when given simulated historical data showing a flat line STILL produces a "hockey stick" - proving that the model is NOT capable of accurately showing trends. And just last year a group of 40 climate experts produced a report that global temperatures will FALL over the next 30 years as the natural cycles override any effect mankind may be having. So global warming is bunk - which the politicians have latched onto as an excuse to tax us (and increase their waistlines).

I intend to drive as far, as often as I can and generate as much CO2 as I can. BTW CO2 is NOT the most significant pollutant wrt illnesses such as asthma, and smog - particulates, NOx and HC are more important - and my RS4 produces LOWER levels of BOTH NOx and HC than the puny 1.2 litre engine in my wife's Skoda Fabia.

It costs as much as it costs, and even if it cost a shed load more I'd still smile everytime I press the starter and think to myself "time to wake up; neighbours" :FIREdevil: or "yes dad I'll race your Maserati" :kissmyrings:

REGARDING GLOBAL WARMING:

Out of the billions of processes goin on, on our planet and all of the billions of other processes going on in outer space which effect our planet. I think it's damn arrogant of anyone to say that they know the cause of 'global warming'. No one can possibly grasp all of the contributing factors and to draw on records which have been around for barely 100 years when the earth is 5 000 000 000 years old would be like looking at a blue whale with your eyes closed. The funny thing is someone always seems to get rich off this <beep> and it tends to be the person telling us it's all true. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone - so until all these hippy f**kwits stop using electricity and plastic in their lives, I won't be listening. Yeh I dont NEED a 4.2 V8 motor but technically you dont need the internet, or electric light or an 'eco house' which is actually made out of concrete, the least energy efficient material you could use which you'd have to live in 50 times over to break even on your carbon footprint you mud covered, socialist Bas****.

Get the feeling I could go on?
