now i love it...
Its AntoRS4 who has done the work...AndyUK911 merely hosted the pictures in visible form...
There are, as I understand, no pictures of the original manifold. Its just the modified manifold on view with the polished and blended inlet. The close-up indicates the work that has been done polishing.
I imagine, stock from the factory, the appearance of the whole inlet would be similar to the remainder of AntoRS4's inlet which has not been polished...i.e., with the rough cast surface. That said, the exits of the inlets do look like they're "polished"?
I'd not have thought that the work changes the acoustic properties of the manifold much because its length hasn't been modified but what do I know....

Good spot then SilverRS4!
I just couldn't believe that the stock manifold wouldn't have been totally polished if they bothered to polish the top of the trumpet...but I obviously wasn't looking close enough...

Now I understand what you did. You just took off the edge where the machining stopped and cast surface remained, but was too high.
That manifold is begging to be extrude-honed.

Nope, couple of months back .. it is easy to clean ... there are lots of products. I have an 'orange' one from chemical guys(Heavy Duty Orange Degreaser 16oz) and there is the Autoglym one which I have used.

RS4 Avant - Sold Aug 2009
I spoke to John at Thorney Motorsport today thanks to Andyuk911s tip-off (thanks Andy) and sent off some of the pics that have been posted on here. I'll hopefully hear back with some more concret details tomorrow. First impressions are promising though and John clearly knows his stuff.
I've already heard back from some other people who quote cira £200 p&p for the the intake manifold to be sorted as AntoRS4's though thats assuming you have a spare lying round!

So do you think you'll have Thorney do the work? It would be great to see how they approach the work. I will be ordering a spare manifold and doing the work myself. I've done quite a bit of gas flowing for various race heads and manifolds with good results and I have the tools (and time at the moment - which is helpful). The RS4 intake is a great piece to start with. I will perform a before/after dyno pull, and at the same time do a before/after mass-air flow in gram/sec using VAGCOM. This will help correlate the improved air-flow capacity to any power gains (hopefully).
