Thing is thought that if you take that 3000 in total were brought into the UK, the 48 listed only accounts for 1.6% of those in the UK. I am sure there will be more and it would be useful to get other forum RS owners to contribute to this list, however it is still a small percentage.

P_G do you not think that we should be taking the numbers here as a representative proportion of the 3000 RS4s sold? Not all 3000 owners post, or are aware of this forum, so you can't say that it is 48 failures out of 3000. You can only look at these numbers based on the number of RS4 owners that post in this forum. Then in those terms, the percentages sky-rocket.

Add to that, as seen in other threads, even Dealers are not correctly diagnosing the problems with leaky shocks. A true number is going to be very hard to get when even dealers are not correctly diagnosing (or ignoring) the issue.

I think the number here in this forum in terms of failures per RS246 members is unnaturally high due to our awareness and constant checking of the issue, but still, the 48 members here who have reported issues are a long way from the total number of failures (either diagnosed or undiagnosed or mis-diagnosed) out there.

from a legal stand point any debate should be based on facts, not percentages or summations. If you went to Audi with this list presently they would probably dismiss it as not being a true representation of the 3000 RS4's sold enough to do anything about it but what they are doing presently, which is replacing as they see cases presenting themselves.

I'm not condoning it, but the cynic says in me any technicality to get out of a situation would be used. I am sure there are a number of RS4 owners out there who are blissfully unaware there is a fault with their car, equally there will be a number of RS4 owners out there who do not frequent forums ho have DRC issues, another set who wouldn't know what it was even if it was expliained to them or that it was a widespread issue and then those who have been fortunate enough no to have any problems.

Hence why I suggested perhaps posting this on other motoring forums to gain a wider RS audience and get them to participate here?
