Help for new RS4 owner

Post by dnts911 » Mon Nov 19, 2007 4:54 pm

I've put down a deposit on a Daytona Grey B7 RS4, chopping in the RS6 with the main stealer..I've pretty much negotiated as much as I can in terms of price/trade in, but I want to make sure I can get the car as sorted as possible before I do the deal. Other than freebie mats, what should I be looking for in terms of recall issues (ecu upgrades etc) or comon faults - any help much appreciated..

Check that the wheels have not been refurbed. Alot of dealers tend to do this badly. Easiest way to check is feel the inner rim of the wheel. If untampered it has an almost non stick texture to it and all marks should wipe away easily. There is an ECU update re lumpy cold running and I beleive one for something to do with throttle bodies. Make sure you get your free 1lt oil top up. Enquire into the cost of the service contract as this works out more expensive if done after purchase, I pay £78 for full maint which incudes tyres pads and any ather service consumables. This is a good way to get a better deal. Good luck.

Right, collecting car today..ecu sorted, sat nav sorted, free RS4 mats chucked in, just been serviced...so fingers crossed it'll be okay..

One question though, I've got an iPhone and no-one at Audi knows anything about getting a cradle for it..figure it'll work via bluetooth if I stick it in the armrest, but knowing how crap apple's battery life is on their kit and the fact that the audi car kit sticks out on the dash, I'd like tobe able to use it...anyone know if Audi will do an iPhone cradlle and if so, when?

thanks

soon to be rs4 owner :)

There is a list of compatible phones availiable but I doubt iphone will be on it and I doubt they have a cradle. I asked BMW for a 6500 cradle and thats too new for them. Unless Audi are really on the ball I think its a no goer.

Damn you got a good deal there bud, did they knock any of the sale price too?

I purchased mine for 43k, all i got was 950 quid knocked off and a full tank of fuel, and also free fitting of the ipod connector (i paid 170 quid the the connector) lol, at the time i did not know abut the splash screen!

BTW is it brand new?

Dont know if it was a good deal - never is at a stealer - here's the spec:

56 plate Daytona avant
15,000 miles
Nav (no tv)
Buckets
CD changer
Phone kit
Privacy glass
£43,950

the ecu/sat nav and service dont really cost Audi anything and I guess trade price on those mats is about £30 so I'm not that grateful :) ...to be fair though, West London Audi have been awesome in getting things sorted for me...just wish all the hype about Audi and iPhone wasnt such bullshit..

Looks like an excellent deal you have there, welcome to the club!

I hope they also stuck in 12 months tax, service and new tyres for you on that.

if they changed the oil in the service, its worth about £300 to you... still looks good... see ya around, if they have not done the Nav screen with the RS4 logo, one of us vagcom users will do it for you if you are passing ;)

Is AVS 1 around £550 anyway? If so then you've saved that already.

Is this thread not worth making a sticky - what to look for when collecting your B7? Sems theres a few people coming over to the B7, and a common question.
Everyone is unique, just like you and me.
