Taking the car into Audi

Post by markwm » Fri Sep 28, 2007 6:03 pm

Had a bad week. First a puncture, and today some numskull left a 6-8 litre plastic chemical container in the middle of the road.

I couldn't avoid it, whack. straight under the car and got stuck. I pull over, crawl under the car and pull out the container. Half of it has melted to the underside of the car(exhaust I think).....

Everytime I drive I get fumes from the melted plastic. :-/ Hay ho......so I've booked the car in. I'll let them fix some of the other little niggles as well:

- Creaking clutch pedal
- Windows chattering
- Drivers setbelt clip creaking against seat.

I've got the chattering drivers side window too - seems to be coming from inside the door. Had the same problem on the previous A4 but I just lived with it. Is it fixable? I don't really want them pulling the door liner off if at all possible, but it's really getting on my nerves.

Yep, very common and easily fixable with silicone or gummifleisch spray. Has been used by owners of convertible cars for years.

Dunno, maybe you don't notice it?

I had the exact same issue on my previous car(A3) and seems very common problem with audi's.

Blimey !! 50k car = no rattles. IMO. The only "chattering" I've got so far was her in doors waffling on this morning as I gave her lift to work. Never again!! Do women not understand!!!! New car rule.... "no talking whilst V8 rumbling and sport mode on!" :)

I'm sure they can fix it.

Just to clarify, the chattering is incredibly quiet and in my car I could not hear it unless I specifically drove over uneven tarmac with absolutely no other traffic noise/radio etc on. It is very easily fixable as mentioned above so nothing to really worry about.

With regard to rattles/squeaks, audis are made very well but there is no such thing as a car which doesn't make any interior noises. If you listen hard enough, you will pick up odd sounds regardless of the age of the car. This also varies depending on the ambient temperature...interior materials often being noisier when cold and settling down once warm. In the end it is about what exceeds an individual's threshold of becoming annoying and so far I haven't detected any annoying sounds in mine.

Probably the best fitted interior (although not nicest) in any car I've had was the Noble, which made virtually no sounds at all. The worst was definitely the M3, which was a pile of sh1te.
