Unless you really need the space, I would only ever go for the saloon. In terms of residuals, there won't be much in it in like-for-like cars except the proportional price difference between saloon and avant. The RS4 saloon has pretty much turned the tables in terms of what has dominated the sales in the UK (compared to the RS6...where few saloons were sold/wanted).
Hi Alex, remember you from my Evo 8 days on MLR. I was mrfq340 on the forum (for un-original reasons :o ) lol.

Have not had a 4wd car since the Evo, but makes sense as an all weather, daily blast fest. :D
Aah..yes I remember you too. Do you still have the Sagaris?

I know what you mean re:RS4, great all-rounder. Funnily enough, since selling my Noble I've been toying with the idea of replacing it with a 997 GT3 RS but the wife refuses to let me buy anything with a roll-cage as standard! May have to stick to 4WD and am strangely tempted by the new Nissan GT-R which has looked rather awesome testing at the ring. Will have to wait and see.

Sagaris did not last long, due to mechanical issues.

997 RS is very good car. Adaptive suspension allows a good road setup, then you can stiffen damping for trackdays.

They have put an aggressive geo on the RS, as it did understeer out of the box. I have been to the Ring twice in the last couple of months, but intend to setup the RS4 and take that as well.

Rob, whilst you do so, why not give me a shout and I'll join you. I've been meaning to take a look at the geo settings since I got mine (a few weeks ago).

Before you spend spend anything on new rear boxes, take a listen to the standard car with the exhaust valves disconnected - it really does move it from 'subtle' to 'quite satisfactory' (since it opens up a straight through an un-silenced pipe permanently). It would probably be more worthwhile to fiddle with the ECU and remove some of the hesitation/flat spots.

Steve, will do the exhaust mod.. as soon as I get the car. The GT3 has the same type of valve system, and I have pulled the electrical plug which leaves the valves permanently open. This has made a big difference and gives perfect sound without being too loud.

Just spoke to Mitch, he says he has seen 438 bhp on the RS4, after his mapping! :D

Bloody hell - £3.5k off, and delivery next week. Impressive...

Make sure the GSM is dash mounted rather than centre console, otherwise you lose the RS wheel

Cheers, GSM is dash mounted, although not sure I like it that way. The rest of spec was perfect, so will overlook the plastic cradle on dash. Have been told it is major job to remove?

Rob, it is actually quite simple to replace. TDiAvant or craigyB on here can do it with their eyes shut. With the quality of the audi trim, you're not left with a rattly interior either!
