Mine was replaced under warranty and will be again if I have anything to do with it. Have to confess that I've never fully been able to master heel and toeing (I guess an advanced driving course is on the cards). Engine braking always felt completely natural to me but I guess that's the nature of the habit. This is the most powerful car I've ever owned (previously a MK5 R32) so it's taken me long enough to get to grips with it (which usually sees me short-shifting from 1st to 3rd - or even 4th - just to achieve a smoother ride). Much learning...

Flat spot after quick gear change?

Post by Afanargoed » Thu Sep 13, 2007 10:27 pm

This is sort of related and I could regret this posting…

I’ve noticed I get a clutch flat spot after a quick (perhaps too quick/ lazy change… i.e. not letting the revs off totally through the change). Basically when I let the clutch out at higher revs the revs remain constant, and then after a short delay (feels like a second) they eventually pick up again, despite the accelerator being well and truly carpeted immediately after the change.

If I let the clutch out a bit more gingerly, all is well – I’m sure it’s me not the 4, but would welcome someone telling me why it happens this way….

P.S. Anybody else here got their car from Finchley Road Audi?
I aways use the engine break as well, I blip and change down and hold the revs till it engages smothly then allow the lower gear to slow me, and so on down another gear.
Never had a smell from the clutch ever!.
Covered 3500Miles now, clutch light and smooth as is the box.
