need help with my RS4 order

Post by tomyeh » Mon May 14, 2007 3:42 pm

Hi Everyone, this is my first post :)
I ordered my RS4 mid March and the dealer told me the delivery will take 6 months (to Australia, Gold Coast), its sure very exhausting waiting for the car to arrive..

I've seen many posts about people getting a shock when they pickup their RS4 and the steering wheel was changed because of the Bluetooth option they have chosen.

Does anyone know the order code PT5 is bluetooth + dash cradle OR bluetooth + armrest cradle?? :?:

here is my order specs:
Colour: 5N5N Sprint Blue
Trim Code: Black
Option Codes:
MP. Metallic Paint
PT5, Bluetooth Phone Prep.
3FE, Glass Electric Sunroof.
3Y4, Manual Rear Side Blinds.

Thanks :D

Hi and welcome!

I think that PT5 is phone prep in the centre armrest - probably not what you wanted to hear...

If you google a few of the above factory codes plus "RS4" you get pdfs of other countries price lists with codes attached - Germany, Italy etc

Only job then is to translate the PT5 part, and it looks to me like it's the armrest one

Other thing to consider is that some countries (I think...) deliver phone in the armrest but with the original RS4 wheel - not sure how you'd establish this though

Thanks for the information Richard, i rang Greg today and he checked on the system showing that the car i ordered came with Bluetooth, which means i will loose the RS Steering wheel. As i specifically check with the dealer the day after i placed my order to make sure that they will order the car correctly (with RS Steering wheel and bucket seats) they still screwed it up. I waited for 4 months and enquired several times to make sure the car will turn up the way i want it... they've sent me email telling me that will make sure they order it correctly.. and.... still screwed it up... no surprise that i when i rang up yesterday the salesman that ordered my car for me already left the dealship(probabily fired).
Greg is now trying to convince me to buy an RS4 with similar spec on it from him, but i am stuck in between choosing to buy from Greg and risk loosing my $5k deposit or... buy from the same local dealer which they are keen to exchange the RS4 with Similar spec to the one i have ordered.

What ever turns out at the end... i want my car! just not with that ugly multi function steering wheel.

why would you lose your deposit? they screwed up so they should cancel the order at no penalty or sort ou a wheel switch? or were all your dealings on the subject over the phone with they guy who has left?

i have most of the contact details on email regarding ordering that RS steering wheel spec (so i knew there won't be a problem for me to take back the deposit, but its just alot of hassle to buy from other dealership, most of them are at least 40 minutes drive away), spoke to the sales manager and they said that they can order a RS steering wheel and change over from the Multi-function steering wheel from the bluetooth order but the problem is you will loose the functionality of the S button by the retro fitting the RS steering wheel (a salesman from Sydney told me), won't be good if you want to get into that race mode all the sudden. I had to go into the dealership again and spend most of my afternoon talking to the sales manager and at the end there was a similar car thats also in transit with the car i have ordered and the managed to swop my order (with RS Steering wheel and bucket seat).
So fingers crossed that it will turn up the way i want it otherwise i am getting the deposit back and getting a new M3.

I don't see why you would "Loose" the S button usage, there will be someone along in a while to clarify this for you. Welcome by the way and good luck with it.

Isn't the S button on the dash beside the hazsard lights button on car with the multi function steering wheel.

If so then it will still work, I thing what your sales man ment was that the button on the steering wheel would not work, as in you'd have to use the one on the dash.

yes thats right.. i'd rather use that S button on the steering wheel. Imagine you are driving fast and having to look for the S button next to the haz light button.. not exactly a safe thing to do. And having to pay for a new car.. you'd expect that to at least function propertly right?
