Squeaking nightmare hellish driver seat – help!

I’ve seen a few postings previously of how other owners have had the same issue but managed to get sorted. I’ve taken it back to Audi three times now and it keeps coming back. I’ve resisted booking it in a 4th time, but it is doing my head in, and I’ve got to do something.

Can anyone tell me specifically what I need to ask Audi to do?

The symptoms are that the left ‘cheek’ of the bucket seat squeaks (noticeably goes away when in Sports mode) but always returns when not. It’s like water torture, and you can only turn the stereo up sooooo loud.

Might be same issue as I Have the Recaro seats, also with ongoing sqeak on the left arse cheek. Spent the last 1/2 hr trying to identify. Have found, what looks like a velco pad stuck to the side of the seat belt which rubs on the tunnel when depressing clutch. I have pulled this off and put a faom pad with a slippery surface, so it now rubs and doesnt sqeak. I'll see how long this lasts, as I've had this sqeak on/off for the past 3000 miles.

I had that problem with my S4 drivers recaro seat it drove me nut's, If I had the front of the seat at a certain high it was fine. but you cannot change the height of the buckets.

Rich, how old is the car, how long have you had it and how many miles have you covered in it ?

07 Car, 5 months old, 6700 miles. Apart from sqeaking seat issue, great.

Your best bet is to demand a new seat as they have been unable to repair it so far, if the car had covered less miles you would have been able to return the car and ask for a new CAR. If they refuse to replace the seat then get a Barrister to write to Audi pronto.

If you by a new car again and have any issues when its relatively new then DONT allow them to repair it just demand a new CAR. If you allow them to repair it then waive your right to a new car.This may seem over the top but as you now know if something goes wrong and you let them repair it they just dont give a crap.
You can take audi to court under the Sale of Goods Act but its going to be a long haul.

The car is Dec 06 and on about 7K. I've had to take it back today as the Engine Management light came on (exact cause yet to be determined).

I want my trusty old RS6 back

My buckets do exactly the same thing and its bloody annoying!

It went back to be fixed, which they tried to charge me for (however when i replied "are you taking the p*ss" the service manager decided against that) and its still the same. worse when its cold, not so bad once its warm...

Actually, try putting the heated seat on and see if it makes any difference in your car?

Mine does this too - it's at the dealers today and they have reported that they are going to replace the seat base under warranty.

I had the same problem and while it was in for other work at wayside they put some sticky pad on the seat belt fastener where it rubs against the seat, i was not convinced when i picked it up and looked at what they had done to resolve the problem. However a 1000 miles later and i am still squeak free.

Thanks for the help everyone, and I’m pleased to report that driving is a pleasure again.

Whilst she was in for a replacement inlet manifold intake flap/ motor (a whole different story) they replaced the inner trim of the seat, and so far, a week in, I haven’t yet had to crank up the stereo….

However in reassembling the seat they appear to have put a twist in the seatbelt, but that I can live with….

I had the exact same problem though spent hours narrowing it down to find the cause.

What it is... is the plastic hand that you lift you in order to slide the seat back and forward.

If you get your finger and lightly flick the plastic 'handle' it makes and annoying squeek where as the drivers one was solid.

There is a hex nut under the 'handle' that i got Audi to tighten up and the problem is now all fixed
