Bucket Seats
With all the debate about resale value going elsewhere in the forum and this particular string of messages, I took my wife to sit and drive in the car as I will have the family in the car for some of the time I am driving. I have the Avant on order and Recaros are now the only option if I am to get anyone other than myself in the car. I am guessing that most second owners would also come to the same conclusion - the guys always think they are in charge but who wants 6 months of continual commentary that the seats are too small before you are finally forced to sell it. I fit like a glove in the bucket seats and felt they did what they were meant to but they don't offer the flexibility I need for passengers and a new owner who may be larger than me. I have now changed my order.
I ought to make myself clearer. If I owned this car for myself only and did not envisage having to accomodate other people, I would take the buckets - they were very comfortable for me and for my 2 test drives I fitted perfectly.
They feel like they are made for full on driving and I suspect are made for an average guy like me - 5'10" and 80kgs +/- 10%. If you drive the car to make the seats work properly, you would be shattered after a medium length journey anyway so I am not sure long term comfort was at the forefront in design, although I had 2 x 1 hour and felt fresh after the drives. I am not a full on driver (except for the odd mad moment) and therefore versatility wins out for me with a faimly to occasionally accomodate.

I have found the buckets fine, firm but very supportive.
I do agree that it depends on the driving style and build of the owner and this must be taken into consideration.
What I would say is consider the seats carefully. The buckets are unique to the RS4 and taking them away could harm the resale value considerably. It's like optioning a 4 spoke multi function steering wheel on an old RS4 but worse. Get a long drive at a dealer if you can or sit in the seat for as long as possible and only change to Recaros if you really can't live with them.

When i took the car out for the first test drive i got into the seats and thought they were way to tight. Tried to adjust them but didnt feel much effect. However on my second test drive i got in and either i had lost a few inches or someone managed to adjust the seat wing things (Not great at the technical stuff) And i found them extremely comfy. However saying that i drive a TTQS at the moment with Recaros Formula ones. I love them.If i find those comfy. i'd find a scaffold plank fantastic as a sofa
