hey mate, depending on what look your after. Ive got 19s on mine not lowered and looks pretty damn good. Me and 'shineydave' worked out that a 19 inch wheel on a 35 profile tyre had the same rolling radius than a 17 inch wheel on a 45 profile tyre so it drives the same just a little stiffer as the tyre walls are stiffer. If you wanted to lower it i would honestly go for an 18 or you will have quite a harsh ride. (would look sweet lowered on 19s though... could damage performance though..)

Theres plenty of different styles of wheel about depending weather you want to keep it OEM or go for a 'dubstyle' split / deep dish rim like ive got on mine (19" rial nogaros)
If moneys tite id go for an 18" audi replica ie. new or old rs4 style(every 1 and there grans got the old rs4's) lol or an rs6 style wheel or source some genuine ones off ebay etc...

As for lowering dont go with ya normal out of mag springs ie, eibach etc... i had some on a golf and there far to stiff. Go for either a H&R lowering spring or a damper and spring upgrade.... (35mm drops will probably be plenty) Dont skimp either... you pay for quality... if your feeling really rich go for some H&R coilovers...

Check out www.europerformance.co.uk, Plenty of spring choices on there.

Hope this helps

Scott

TBH you might be better off having a look at www.audi-sport.net where there is a much larger community of S3 owners, plus plenty of photos of cars to inspire you.

I run mine on 18 inch (225/40 18 tyres) and I've got ABT lowering springs and standard dampers which are -30mm compared to standard. I'm happy with the ride but everyone else thinks the ride is too harsh. I have bottomed the car out on speed bumps before so I'm now very careful with anything like that.

19's look good but do give quite a harsh ride.

19s dont give an overharsh ride, to be fair its pretty much identical to the original 17s just more responsive as the tyre walls have not as much flex. i ran 17s for 3 months then changed to 19s. I think it would be harsher on 18s lowered than 19s not lowered. Just my opinion of course. Hope this helps.

My car pics are on the s3 forum.... look for a post called
'New Rims.....' with an attachment think its on the first page.

PCD 5x100 ET35 Now pic a wheel 17-19" You can play with ET value to have the wheel sticking out more or buy spacers. I use Eibach springs but would recommend KW variant coilov ers if you want the complete package without spending a fortune otherwise Bilstein PSS9's
