Does your unkles 3.2 have DSG? If so it may be a little quicker. The S3's downfall is the gear ratios, make them longer and it would be a much quicker car.

I have an S3 with 340bhp, but its not much quicker than a Scooby with 300bhp.

As an A-to-B car a well set-up, mapped S3 will be a fair bit quicker.

Chris how quick is a 340hp S3? I would think thst a car of that size with all that power should blow away most scoobys and my S4 that currently has 345hp. Be interesting as there are a few MTM s3 on pistonheads for sale with similar power

0-60 is in the mid to high 5's. Quarter miles times are about 13.5-14.0 depending on weather/traction/etc.

It's fast enough to annoy M3 drivers and leave them in your wake, and it'll demolish S4's (easily done with the spongey handling), but the gear box is too much of a limitation to make it a really fast car.

PS. Heh, sorry for the thread jacking.

so in summary my 270bhp s3 would eat a 246bhp 3.2 a3???? its lighter, more power and more torque..... it makes perfect sense....lol.

Well i would expect my S4 to do better than mid to high fives to 60. Also with the anti roll bars and H+R Coilovers not to bad on the twisties. Is yours an MTM conversion Chris? I was thinking of getting one some day and getting it to that sort of power. Have u ever thought about changing the gearbox or is that more trouble than its worth?
PS:Sorry Scott for the hijak, and yes i think your s3 will murder the 3.2 A3

You're S4 will do a lot better to 60 with similar power because the S3 won't get there in second. You need to factor in the extra gear change. There's a conversion kit from HPA that looks good (£2k from Vag-tech), and eurospec sport do a few kits too. All look expensive, but who knows, it's something I've been wanting to change for a long time. I have the GTRS Eliminator on mine, fitted at Star Performance. I'd still blow the S4 away in the twisty stuff (most of my money has gone into the handling) ;)
