Post by B7B7B7 » Tue Aug 07, 2007 9:30 am

Hey all, fairly new to this site so just wanting peoples opinions. Just bought a 1999 s3 ( 92k with full audi service history....the guy i bought it off spent 2grand last service ie, cam belt, tracker arms..etc....runs 110%)
........cost me £6400

Its black with full black heated leather recaros, sreens in headrests, dvd player

270bhp map from 'gttuning.com' (does any 1 no if this company is any good) + uprated vented front disks

it has a dump valve (silent 1) can any 1 tell me the point???

Think im going to put the face lift rear lights on + badges and maybe the facelift steering wheel and gearstick, if any 1s selling any parts????

OPINIONS AND ANSWERS PLEASE...

Audi s3, screens, dvd, reacros, red calipers, 270bhp map, d/valve, tt pedals,

Not sure about some of your points but maybe worth getting it checked over by MRC. They will do a health check for you and then u will know its in A1 condition. The dump valve u have is probably a recirc valve so it uses the pressure instead of dumping it into the atmosphere (recirc ones are better)

gttuning.com are a big player when it comes to renault 5's. Ive got a gtturbo. They have a crazy R5 running some stupid BHP! (350-400). i think theyre trying to branch out by the looks of it. Not many R5's about now - too many car vs wall incidents i think! Theyve had a TT for a while now so i think theyre trying to break in to the Audi market.

FYI, it's probably not a dump valve, or it shouldn't be if it is. Audi's use recirculating valves (ByPassValves) where the pressure is released back into the intake, hence the silent operation; they're not supposed to be chav cars after all!

Indeed, IMHO repairs can be expensive and often prevented. If you can't get it to MRC or similar then I suggest finding someone near with VAG-COM to run a fault scan periodically. Better yet, get a decent warranty. ;-)

If you are looking for parts, I have always used Vagparts.com in the past; they are much cheaper than Audi and you get the added bonus that they actually deliver them!
