Chaps at work.. 1 with Scooby (standard) other with Rallye Golf (1 bar boost 200 or so BHP) think they can out do me 1/4 mile?

My S3 is bog standard and I reckon im in with a good chance?

If the Scooby is the older model jap import WRX,you're toast,it will eat your S3.If its the newer lardy WRX, shouldnt be much in it.As for the Rallye,forget it,those things dont even feel quick with 200bhp from a G60,you'd need to have fitted a KO4'd 1.8T at least before one of those would be quick.

My money is on the WRX (if it's the old Jap import classic model)...Having owned one - the power is in a different league compared to a un-modded S3.

I have since learned its not a WRX but a special edition Catalunya?

Certainly looking better, but I would think it'd still be kinda close. It's a tad lighter (strangely enough) than your S3. The Jap imports the guys were talking about earlier had 276hp or so, as opposed to the Catalunya which has 218 I believe.

Officially Catalunya is 208bhp. But i need a MY97 PPP ecu that'll give me about 250bhp @ 15.5psi.

There is a queue of VW's waiting to prove German beats Jap. My 2.0 16v mk2 is quicker than the S3 for a start and I'd take any Scooby on with my mk1 (someone say something about 540bhp?).

As somebody said before...lets book a time and place and find out.....

what is the point of this? my S3 will beat most (edited to say ALL) cars in this class just on the quality/feel good factor surely??? the fact that people are aiming to beat the S3 says something to me... Dream on.. especially erected VW Golf people [img]images/graemlins/FIREdevil.gif[/img]
