S3 Serviced!

Post by Riz_RS4 » Sat Jul 26, 2003 6:01 pm

I had my S3 serviced today, its first AVS one.
The bill came to £381 which apparently included a discount off the heldex oil change? now i didnt expect it to be that much but heres a breakdown of what was invoiced!
Let me know if i have been robbed?

LABOUR:
1st AVS Service £153.89 plus VAT
Brake fluid change £48.96 plus VAT
Heldex oil changed £34.97 plus VAT

PARTS:
Seal £0.12 plus VAT
Filter £4.00 plus VAT
Filter El? £11.22 plus VAT
Mobil 1 Oil x5 £49.98 plus VAT
Brakefluid x2 £10.20 plus VAT
Screenwash £2.02 plus VAT
H/D Oil £8.55 plus VAT
Plug £0.60 plus VAT

Total incl VAT £381.30

Note that now they have used Mobil 1 oil and not Castrol SLX which i was normally putting in, also the service indicator is around 9800miles to next service? does this mean that they have put me on a fixed service? In my service book it says its on AVS though?

The xenon lights have been checked and also the engine undertray has been exchanged for a new one as RAC broke the other one!

So whats you view`s people? been reamed or not?

Cheers

What is Heldex oil
I kind of assumed that was the longlife engine oil, until I saw they had used 5l of Mobil 1. Would they have allowed you to supply the Mobil 1, as £58 seems a bit steep when even Halfords only charge about £30 for 4l.
Also, given that a brake fluid change is about 30mins, it lloks like they are charging nearly £100 an hour, which is £20 an hour more than Epsom Audi, IIRC
Other than that, no surprises really

Dealers charge for oil in 1 litre bottles which bumps the cost up..

What is Heldex oil
Audi S3`s use a Heldex 4WD clutch which control`s the power to all four wheels, im thinking that the dealers dont charge by the hour for servicing? maybe its a fixed cost? yes 100 per hour doesnt work out right really, they only had the car for 3.5hours and that included the FOC clean of the car! Right i had my S3 service at 16,250miles and now on 16,750miles.... the DIS still says 9300miles until next service? any idea`s?
I was told after about 3-4days the sensors will gradualy pickup the cars oil condition etc and should rise back up to the standard area around 17,000miles?
