Audi S3 boost pressure?

Post by Riz_RS4 » Sat May 24, 2003 2:18 pm

Just wondering? ive seen somewhere that the Revo SPS3 operates bwtween 1.0 - 1.5 bar of boost pressure? Is this true? (low boost = 1.0 and high boost = 1.5)

Also doesnt anybody know the safety limits of the Revo program? whats the max the engine parts can handle?
Turbo`s max bar pressure, K04 specs?
Clutch and flywheel rating, heard it was 350lb ft?
Gear box etc?
Spec`s for most known tuner`s (havent found sportec & BB specs yet):-

SKN=
260bhp (191kw) / 346nm (255lb ft)

ABT=
250bhp (184kw) / 350nm (258lb ft)

MTM=
254bhp (187kw) / 352nm (260lb ft)

AMD=
260bhp (191kw) / 358nm (264lb ft)

APR=
262BHP (193kw) / 366nm (270lb ft)

SUPERCHIPS=
252bhp (185kw) / 370nm (273lb ft)

REVO=
265bhp (195kw) / 389nm (287lb ft) (adjustable)

Cheers

Right this is a quote from the press release for the Audi S3 225bhp Sept 4, 2001.
With its 1.8-litre displacement, two charge-air intercoolers, a type K 04 turbocharger and a maximum boost pressure of 2.1 bar

So how can this be? standard S3 runs 2.1 bar whilest Revo runs 1.0 for low boost and 1.4/5 for high boost? im confused?

that will be absolute pressure.

1 bar atmostpheric pressure...

+ and 1.1 bar "boosted" pressure.

Its common to only measure the increased pressure over atmospheric level ie everything over 1 bar

so does that mean the atmostpheric pressure is always fixed at 1.0 bar?

Just trying to figure out how much bar is increased from the standard? double?

changes due to altitude..

but more or less 1000 milliebar = 1 bar..... is more or less it given a few millibar either way IIRC

ermmmm so that means the standard S3 has 1bar of a/pressure and 1.1 bar of boost = 2.1bar

So that means that the Revo lowboost program runs less boost than standard? huh confusing 1bar of a/pressure and 1bar of boost = 2bar vs 2.1bar standard
the high boost runs 0.4bar higher than standard 2.1bar?

remember lowboost 0 on Revo... could be similar to valet mode... ie below standard boost....

revo seems to run 1.4-1.5bar peak, probably 1.1-1.2 held.

a K04 wouldn't flow 2.0 bar. MTM apparently runs 1.7bar peak ( and gets some good torque from doing it ), but as revs rise it drops off rapidly, my guess is partly because of the fact that it cant flow enough air at higher revs to sustain that.

It would appear that Revo torque peaks later ( about 1500rpm later ) than any other chip on the market and drops off quite rapidly.

Running big boost is not an issue provided you have the correct fuelling and sensible ign advance.
