s3 wuurring noise from rear of car. please help
Got this noise on my s3 it starts at about 40mph and is a wuurring noise that sounds like its coming from the rear of the car.Does anyone know what it could be? seems to go away when the car is under load. Its a 2000 s3.Thanks

Doesn't sound good
How many miles has it done? Got service history etc.?
You could try swapping the front tires to the rear and vice versa to eliminate the wheels being out of balance. Dont swap left to right if the tyres are directional

It has done 120,000 miles has full service history though, mostly audi, the guy i brought it off said he had 18s on it before and never used to do it.Is there anything else it could be at the rear? thanks

The easy/cheap option is to swap the wheels front to rear. Could be anything, but if it disappears under load, could it be related to the rear diff?

Would swapping the wheels from front to rear help then? as all the wheels seem ok
RE: s3 wuurring noise from rear of car. please help
The main point of swapping from back to front would be to see if the noise moves with the wheel.
If it does then it might be that the tyre is deformed, wheel needs balanced, or is buckled - saves looking for something more serious. I've had similar when the sidewalls of the rear tyres of a previous car were knackered.
