I had a Sachs uprated organic clutch (good for 330 lb/ft - mine is running 312lb/ft with an MTM rechip). I bought the clutch as part of a group buy on SeatCupra.net from JBS in Chesterfield. It was, from memory, 5 hours labour to fit (circa £250) and the clutch itself was £446 including a 19% discount from the GB. You also have to have a wheel alignment done as well as you have to drop the front sub-frame to get to the clutch.

I went for the uprated one as I've been told that the standard clutch is good for around 310lb/ft so my car was always going to be on the limit. I believe an OE clutch would be around the £150 mark plus fitting and alignment.

Hope that helps.

You will be ok with the standard clutch if you keep your car the way it is but if your going to do more mods in the future you may want to change it. There are so many different options it all depends on ££££'s and what mods you got planned?

What sort of driving do you do in the car?
e.g. do you drop the clutch at 5000 rpm at the traffic lights ??

If i were you i would get one from the states with the current exchange rate, there will be a small charge for import tax but it should still work out a lot cheaper than rip off britain. Might be a good ideal to change from dual mass (standard s3) to single mass set up for your style of driving have a look at the link below, all you do is put your car spec in the box and make a choice .

Horsepower isn't the important factor - it's torque. High torque will kill your clutch - anything over 310lb/ft and you are going to be pushing a standard clutch.

Plus 5000rpm clutch dumps aren't going to do much good either - no matter what clutch you have fitted.

He said Bhp not me. It's just most people are aware of the Bhp rather than the torque.

You will kill the standard clutch doing that, especially if your car is remapped. If you're into that sort of thing then you definately need an uprated one.

I have a Helix clutch/flywheel, fitted by Awesome for about £1200. It can handle hig rev dumps, but it works best if you slip it to about 15mph, then side step.
