Hi All,

I know this has been covered extensively in this forum and I have researched all other forums on how to upgrade my RNS-D to an RNS-E system but there is so much info but no (it appears) definitive answers.

Got the RNS-E unit and all appropriate cables from Kufatec and proceeded to fit but have got totally confused on where to fit the canbus hi & lo cables in the dash or whether I have to rewire the TMC box located in the boot. :?

Can anybody help anf give me a step by step idiots guide of what I need to do or preferably is there anybody out there who offers a install service, who I can drive to and get it sorted. I am based in the North East.

Cheers.

Hi

Neckarsulm on the RS4 forum has recently done the single DIN to Double DIN RNS-E install on his RS4 so you may wish to look at his posts. If I recall correctly he documented it quite well.

Regards

You can ditch your RNS-D TMC box, as the RNS-E has TMC built in.

If you have a B6 or B7 (which I assume is the case as you're posting in this forum), then there should be no need to wire CAN-H and CAN-L into the instrument cluster.

There is a wealth of information on RNS-E installs here : http://audiforum.us

You'll need to bridge the pins on the loom going into the old tmc in the boot. That way you'll get CAN bus on the right pins into the RNS-E (RNS-D used the old Bosch version CAN protocol IIRC).

The reason it's done on the TMC module is 1) its now redundant like CliveH says 2) It's dead easy to bridge the pins on
