Bought a new TTTDI and found out we're having a baby!

Damn, £30k invested in a new TT and we get a baby! so, that's got to go.
My best bet seems to be a B6 S4 Avant. Serious Dad wagon. Not driven one yet but I'm sure they'll be great. I mean 350BHP, whats not to like.. (oh yeah 19mpg...)
My biggest problem is that I think they are still over priced. I think they will be dropping further so I'm reluctant to take the plunge just yet. I'm sure the VAT increase and further rise in fuel duty will make they 19mpg just to hard to swallow for most. Not a problem for me my commute is 3 miles round trip!
I see examples going for £12-13k but then they are some for £8k. I used to work in the motor trade and I think if I owned an S4 and took it in to trade I'd be shocked at the low trade in value.
So my question is really I guess, what do you think is a fair price to pay so I don't get stung down the line? Also does anyone have a B6 Avant they want to shift on at the right price? Money waiting. I'd like Sat nav ideally and any colour but not too keen on Ming Blue or silver.
Cheers from a new member

From when I was looking the cheap ones tend to be pretty basic on the extras, strange interior or have a list of bits that need doing soon.
The more expensive ones are fully loaded, RNSE and full leather etc. £12k for a late 2004 low miler, with all the extras etc, I'd still happily pay that for one after owning mine for 18 months.

Do you think the B7 is less desirable?

B7 aren't an RS4, whereas the B6 was the top of the A4 range at that age. Also the B7 will have the higher road tax.
I considered the C32 as well but decided they looked a bit old man and heard they can be more costly to maintain, they eat tyres and suffer massive torque steer and the S4 interior is alot nicer

Road tax on B7s before march 2006 is £245 for 12months so should be the same a a B6
When i was looking it seemed an early B7 was holding its value a little better than a late B6 of similar spec.

beleive it or not, me, the missus, the little un, the pram AND the shopping fit in the TT!
But we're going camping this year a lot and I think bikes, and tents might be pushing it a bit!

I've found there's not a great deal of legroom in the back if you're tall. If I put the seat in a comfortable position, no one can sit behind me - and I'm not a giant.
Sometimes an S6 looks like it would have been a better purchase but I couldn't live with an auto-barge for the sake of a few journeys per year.
Recently went down to France and we got away with an adult in the back by putting my son's car seat in the middle with the wife on the passenger side next to him. There's a 3-point harness in the middle but the seat slides from side to side as the space isn't quite wide enough - it was OK since the seat was supported either side by passenger/luggage.
If you're regular size you can ignore this post!

We'll I'm 5"8' and the kid is 7 months so we should fit for a while yet!!!
Do all S4 avants come with ISOfix or was it an extra?

It was an extra.
I think if you got that you also got the switch to disable the front passenger airbag.
I bought a Recaro seat and it's absolutely rock solid in position in the back seat - it's not a bench but nearly 2 + 2 style.

It's an optional extra.
You can retrofit it yourself though. Not sure how hard this would be, but probably not very. Try searching for this in the A4 forum on tyresmoke.net.

It's an option on the B6 even though the brochure said it was standard. I went through this issue with my dealer (who checked my VIN and said I should have it) and Audi UK. I got nothing. I ended up buying the kit which is just the bar and bolts. The front switch was already there and working on my S4.
I didn't find a seat that fitted well in the Recaros with the Isofix so I got a normal seat and sold on the Isofix bar/bolts.
I also moved from a TT to an S4 due to planning a family. For forwards facing seats there's not actually much leg room (nor for adult passengers). I'm now in a B8 and the extra couple of inches makes a lot of difference.
