Does anyone with an S4 B6 run it with higher octane fuel?
Is it worth the extra money?
Does it run better?
Shell, BP our Supermarket ?
Cheers Deano

Always run my cars on V-Power, BP Ultimate, Tesco, Total Exellium etc. so I think it is worth the extra dosh.

Always run mine on Super. V-power appears to be one it likes best, runs smoother and feels more alive (maybe better economy but didn't buy it to get economy :D ) . I always use premium brand fuel rather than the supermarket stuff and use a busy petrol station so you get fresh fuel.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but you shouldn't run these on anything less than 97ron anyway? Isn't standard unleaded 95ron?

Not sure so don't batter me.......:-(

Normal Premuim unleaded is 95RON, the super unleaded is typically 97RON. I belive V-Power maybe higher and tesco do a 99RON Biofuel unleaded.

You can run on 95RON, the ECU will adapt to suit but I think it just runs better of 97RON and the manufacturers output power is probably based on using 97RON, bigger numbers look better.

My wife uses the S4 most of the time.

I'm just glad she hasn't put Diesel in it yet!

I think they say minimum 95 RON under the filler cap, which is standard unleaded. I think in America they have fuels with less RON values, but here in Blighty you shouldn't find standard pump giving less than 95 RON so you shouldn't go wrong.

I always try to put Super in when I fill up, but don't know what normally goes in!

I ALWAYS use V-Power or Tesco99...my anal-retentiveness for fuel snobbery is that bad I have POIs in the SatNav just incase I need fuel quickly, which is pretty much most of the time, I'd like to think there's a fuel leak but I know it's something to do with the 4.2 bit written on the plastic moulding in the engine bay!

I always use 95ron, I think ill try some tesco 99ron next time I fill up, reset the ECU and see if it makes any difference.

Talking about MPG, has anyone else managed over 30mpg?

I got just over 32mpg in my 04 cab (Bromley to High Wycombe) the other day and was delighted !!!

I averaged 28.5mpg on a 400 mile run at the weekend. Most of the drive was a steady 80ish, but with 3 or 4 stretches of the good old 50mph average speed check areas.

I was running V-Power, but as I've just got the car it was the first time I've filled up, so I'm not sure what it's had in it before, and if it had any effect.

I'm planning to stick with it for a while, to see if it's worth it. One thing I did notice though was that while the price of regular unleaded was the same in Somerset & Newcastle, V-Power was 5p more per litre up north!

I have been using standard 95 unleaded since having the car.

In the sticks where I live, all B roads, I average 20mpg

On a run to civilisation I usually get around 26 / 27

Suer unleaded fuel is usually best bet for turbo motors as apposed to n/a....

Although saying that i have never put anything other than superunleaded in any of my last few motors.

If you get an extra 20 ( ish ) miles to a tank and it cost an extra £4 ( ish ) to fill it pays for itself really and keeps everythign in tiptop condition...

In EVO they did a fuel test and on a subaru they got 22.5bhp just from the fuel, in a golf gti they got 12.somehting and in the n/a they got not much !!!

Still, i would use it, if your car has been mapped it will certainly make a difference as they are usually mapped to run on higher octane fuel and get a cleaner burn.

All it means if you don't use it is the engine will "self learn" to a certain degree and back the timing of a little .....
