I had the left hand front sidelight bulb go on my Audi S4 this evening. I have not had a proper look at it yet and the manual says get it done by a qualified mechanic, but has anyone had an experience with changing this bulb.
Please do not tell me this is a headlight out job!
Any help would be most gratefully received.

Probably a 10 min job max mate. When you say left hand i guess you mean nearside? Thats even easier than the offside. Please don't give someone else your money.
Oh yeah, light stays in place

Thanks chunky76.
Yes it is the nearside.
Do you need to take the plastic cowlings off or can it be done with these in place? There's absolutely no room in the engine bay to do much at all!
Many thanks.

My parking light has just gone, offside. Looks a right PITA to change

Thanks Chunky76.
Did the side light in 10minutes during my lunch today. No problem at all.
I did take the cowling off, but it was only one torq-x screw which took all of 5 seconds.
A surprising amount of space in the area to change the bulb, and the task was made a lot easier by some clever Audi design.
I once had a Renault Laguna which required contortionist skills, rubber bones and the hands of a five year old, just to get the cap off the back of the light unit. Getting the replacement bulb back in was even more difficult.
Many thanks.

Glad you got it sorted mate. Both are ok to do, drivers side just needs a couple of extra screws to be taken out. It's a joke that they say it's a job for the dealer.
I was meant to say the best thing to do is get L.E.D bulbs to replace the standard ones, they look a lot better when headlights are on!!

Trying to change the right side bulb on my B7 at the moment, seems like an impossible job no real space at all.

I can't remember how much my l.e.d's were. Got them from ultraled on the net.

I saw them on the net. They were about £15 each.
The standard bulb was £4 each anyway! So I think I will swap then out in the future.

My apologies. The LED lights are £15 per
Pair, not each.
Just bought a pair at
http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/automotive-b ... 1_131.html.
£18 including standard delivery. If they last longer than the standard bulb (which they should!), then it's a bargin.

did you order the one's with the heat shield on them? these bulbs get hot and need a shield around them to protect the LED unit.
sorry, i should have mentioned that in my post above

I could only get one type from the supplier (See picture)
I trust this is the right one!
Got two in the pack, but one seems to be faulty so i've asked them to send me another. Normal bulb works fine and the LED on the otherside works fine too. Difference between standard bulb and LED is very noticable. They produce a lovely white/blue light compared with a yellow light from the standard bulb. Really freshens up the front of the car.

They look like the right one's. The actual LED bulbs can have a slight colour difference between the two of them i have heard but you shouldn't really notice it with the headlights on.
