One of mine failed after 3 months. It just started to flash at regular intervals and I was getting an error on the screen.

Have replaced it and all is fine, but will be sending this faulty one back. It should last longer than 3 months!

Still very happy with the cleaner look though. I have even bought some extras as spares.

Has anyone else noticed these bulbs flash when the ignition is turned on?

They all do. It's not the LED bulbs, it's the car doing it's self-check function of the lights. If one of the bulbs is out it flags up an error on the screen.

I think it even does it in daylight too, just you don't notice it.

Noticed a BMW doing the same yesterday morning.

Just to let you guys know, UltraLEDs did replace the LED that I broke, no questions asked (even though it was probably my fault!).

Good company to deal with, in my experience. I've had no issues with the LEDs since they've been fitted, and like elmo & xyber have said, they do just look cooler!

Very easy & effective mod.

I just emailed their customer services I think.

There's also a returns@ultraleds.co.uk address, that sends out an email with a returns number once they've processed your request.

I've actually had to return two now. One that failed as I was fitting it, and another since which just stopped working after about 3 months. They seemed happy to replace that one too.

I explained in my email to them that I'd performed some basic analysis to verify that it was the bulb at fault, and not the car. Below is the email I sent them, if it helps...
Reference Order Number: xxxxx

I am writing to tell you that one of the pair of LEDs that I purchased
(above) is faulty.

The bulb now fails the car's self-test on start up, and the car now
indicates that there is no bulb present. However when the lights are
switched on, the LED seems to flicker dimly, so I wonder if it might be the
built in resistor that has failed.

I have double-checked that it's not a fault with the car, by swapping the
left & right LEDs, and the bulb-out fault changed from the left side to the
right, confirming that the fault lies with the LED.

Please can you provide a returns number so that I can return the LED for a
replacement?
BigAustin - do you have en ebay link, for future use?

Well I lost my nearside sidelight tonight. Was going to upgrade to LED before Le Mans anyway - having decent sidelights will help minimise xenon time at dusk when driving on the wrong side of the road. Was given some '501 W5W' a few years back.... However, following other peoples experiences, these will show on the DIS as they don't contain a resistor. Being the easier nearside, I could change just the one and see if the car pops anyway warnings.

Chunky has sold his S4, but how did Marv, Xyber and Elmo get on? Any more failures or DIS warnings from the ones discussed above? These were mentioned in the RS4 section earlier today....

Hi Ian

I ended up taking my front out cause they kept failing. The number plate ones were still working up till last month but the new owner has had to put standard bulbs back in cause the were interfering with the radio.

I have some of those sky scrapper type leds in the rs6 and touch wood no problems yet.
