Having successfully fitted a B7 resonated catback Milltek to my B6 avant,I am getting a really loud droning noise inside the car at between 1500-2000 rpm ?? Is this normal & can it be deadened ?

Well it's certainly not normal for a B6 resonated catback Milltek on a B6 saloon

Agree it's not normal, but it looks & sounds great, apart from that damned droning !!!!

Droning is something you have to live with. The standard systems drones too. It is a nasty trait of the V8.

It certainly wasn't as noticable on the original system as it is on the Milltek, but I suppose it's a small price to pay for the sound outside the car !!!

We havent fitted a B7 system onto a B6 before, but wouldnt expect there to be a huge difference. How long has the system been on the car for now? It may settle down a little bit.
Your right though they sound amazing with the system on.
Do you have any pictures of it fitted?

No pictures, but only cos I cant figure out how to download them.;If somebody could explain it to me,I can post pictures of the exhaust on the car & the gas conversion. System has only been on the car for 1 week !!

Oh,there was just one small problem.where the system joins the cats, there was a difference in the diameter which required sleeves to be made to step it up.

Best way to upload the photo's would be through a
http://www.photobucket.com you can upload the pictures onto there. Once you have done that you just need to post the address for them on here using the IMG button on here. So it would appear as (without the spaces in there).... i hope that makes sense

Most S4 exhausts reach resonance frequency between 1500 and 2000 rpm hence the drone. Milltek is no different, the sleeves will not make any difference either. I had an AAS 3" s/s system fited to my B6 S4 and it required sleeves as well making the step up from 1.75" to 3" pipes.
Did you get it fitted at Revolution?

No,as it happens,I have a mate who works at the local Kwikfit,he did it for me one afternoon.Am now getting used to the drone, but as a taxi,I'm sick of customers asking if the exhaust is blown !!!!!

Oh yes,I figured that if I was going to spend half my life sitting in a car,it had to be one that puts a smile on my face while i'm driving it. AND IT DOES !!!!

If you ever want to get the full system I'd recomend AAS in Bells Close Industrial Estate in Lemington / Scotswood, they transformed my S4 and a damn sight more cost effective than Milltek for just as good individualised workmanship.
