I have just read an Auto Car write up on Tyres to find my current S4's Continental tyres ( Conti Sport Contact ) are the worst tyres in the pack ..

In "Wet Weather" only just beating the "trick" cup tyres which are almost slicks ...

My Impreza STI had Pirelli P Zero Neros which were great [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img] ..

Does anyone have any first hand experiance etc and what is good / worth changing for ??

I'd go for Pirelli P Zero Rosso's or the Goodyear GSD F1's.

Are your Conti's Sport 1 or Sport 2's?

Mmm interesting.

I've had few M3's on Conti Sport 1's and they were not at all impressive. The Sport 2's were a totally different tyre IMO and a better option than the other oem fitment for the M3, the Michelin Pilot Sport.

All the new S4's I've driven/seen have the Conti 2's so far and I'd be more concerned with what you think of them on your car than what the mags or gossip says. Are you unhappy with them and why?

p.s.Conti's are also bloody cheap if that's a factor. Can get a full of the S4 size for about £550-600, whereas the Pirelli's/Goodyears are will be £700-900 for a set [img]images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

The Conti's are not bad, but they do push wide if cornering hard ( in the dry ) .. I have not tried too many times to push on in the wet, mainly due to this countries change of weather .. But now winters here I'm sure I will get an opportunity .. If they under steer in the dry they must be worse in the wet ? .. We will see..

More minor thing, they do make a hell of a noise .. droning on over even the smoothest of roads ..

Anyway .. It was mainly the lack of Wet Braking in the test that got me and I know that many people have said that an M3 is a different car with P Zeros on .. So I wondered it the S4 also had the perfect sole mate [img]images/graemlins/1syellow1.gif[/img]

what car were they testing the tyres on ?
fwd/rwd/4wd maks a big difference, as does weight bias, tyre width etc.

Unless they were tested on the same model of car I wouldn't go too much on their test.

Personally I like Bridgestone S02s, but not tried them on my RS4 yet. Toyos are a close second but slightly less grippy in the wet. Contis are just as good as the Toyos but cost a lot more money (from my experiences in fwd & rwd cars).

Well coming from the Bridgestone SO3s on my AMD S4 (b5)to the part worn P Zeros on my two week owned RS4. The P zeros are bloody awful and I am not exagertating. The P zeros have nothing like the wet grip of the SO3 but the huge difference is how they want to tramline on the slightest thing. One of the other lads on here ditched them for the goodyears and noticed a marked improvement + better wear.

However, I suppose my opinion is not total fair as I'm not really comparing apples with apples as I've gone from a 225/45/17 to 255/35/18 (I think?) This alone could be the real difference. Can any other RS4 owners confirm?
