Anyone know the service interval on the new S4? 10K? Or have they increased it? Hope they have: might make up for the fuel economy....

I would imagine it is the variable type servicing recently employed by Audi, which dependant on oil condition, driving style, what you had for breakfast and various other sensors can range the serving from 9500 miles to 20000 miles, so I believe

Alternatively you can opt for standard 10k service intervals, or like use loons, oil change every 5k, service every 10k

For the NA V8 I would have absolute confidence in using AVS and I would expect 10K to be the minimum interval. The build quality of the car should be up to an average 20K interval.

My S4 is telling me to get it serviced in approx. 14000 miles from now .. it's currently got 2500 on the clock ..

The only confusing thing is that it does not need a first service ( Oil change ) [img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] If it's the same oil from new with 16000+ miles on it .. what state will it be in [img]images/graemlins/033102bad_1_prv.gif[/img]

They use 'special' lubricants for cars on the variable service (or longlife) schedules. Even these have a time limit on them though, which I believe is two years.
One of the things the car does to decide when it needs a service is monitor the condition of the oil.

...just to add that the car will have a viscosity sensor which is one of the parameters the DIS uses to calculate the time before oil change.

On the assumption that it has a fully synthetic oil, you do not need to worry about the condition of the oil after 16000 miles.

If it was turbocharged on the other hand...
