What oil should I get? B7

Post by MikeyJS4 » Wed Jan 08, 2014 4:23 am

Hi there

I was just wondering what is the best oil to get for my S4 B7. When I brought it 7 months ago it was put on the longlife oil but I drive it every day and my oil is low so want to replace it with a more robust oil rather than the longlife oil.

Also is the standard oil filter okay to use or do you recommend a different one?

Thanks guys

Ironically the long life oil is actually very good all things considered. The only problem is that it's not really best to leave it under the long life regime. Simply use the long life oil and move to fixed 12 month/10,000 miles service and it'll be fine. IMO no oil is really going to last 15k-20k miles in a high revving v8 like the rs4.

Thanks, I already put in an order for 5W40. Maybe I will get them to change it to the lifelong oil instead perhaps?

I always used Fuchs Pro s 5w-40 in my B6 S4 and changed it every 5-6k to help keep the chain noise down. Opie oils are good for oil.

5w-40 is fine but slighter thicker than the long life oil so will sap a tiny bit of power.

Just had car serviced and the dealer said they (audi) have changed oil from the castrol rs?

Do you know what they changed it to?
