Anyone tried H&R springs on theirs?

Post by dan101smith » Tue May 21, 2013 1:59 pm

I need to replace my front springs. I can either go with OEM from the dealer, or H&R to replace all of them. I've got new OEM shocks.

Has anyone tried the H&R springs? Do they actually drop it much? I'm not hugely bothered about lowering it, as a decent ride is more important! The only reason I'm considering them is that a set of 4 H&R costs only slightly more than two OEM...

I have H&R's with stock shocks. Lowered 30mm all round, looks good and ride is good, far less barge-like, feels much tighter, bit harder but not bone crunching as the stock shocks keep it civil!

Same here, got them with 10mm spacers all round and I love the stance. Handling is just a touch stiffer than stock but hardly noticeable. Let's face it the roads in this country are crap, if your hitting potholes it doesn't matter what your running, so you might as well look good doing it!

Cheers guys.

I think I'm going to stick to OEM, though. Should still be significantly better than the worn springs that are on there now!

Good choice, I've got the H&Rs on mine and I really don't like them at all!
Far too firm for the rubbish roads where I live..

quick heads-up.. continued use of -30mm H&R springs with std shocks and 10mm H&R rear spacers, and I've just had to replace the OSR wheel arch liner as the tyre had knocked out a retaining clip and the liner dropped onto the tyre and wore a huge hole in it!!

60 odd quid part, plus a bit of labour and the VAT and thankyou very much £140

Are you bottoming out? I've got the exact same set up and never bottom out at the back (never really have anything heavy in the boot though). The front sometimes rubs if pushing on into a dip but otherwise have had no problems.

i have a feeling i must have either hit a pot-hole really hard and the tyre banged the clip out.. or it was when i had a couple of my biffa mates in the car who play Defense for the Reading Renegades lol!
