Yes, it's only me again. Sorry ;)

I've been talking to a mate who is looking to pick up a B6 A4 TDi and we got talking about optional extras that were available and that you can retrofit, so I decided I'd have a look about.

Turns out there are quite a few, which is nice. So I need to find out what's involved with all of these, and also how I can check what I already have in place...

So, the things I don't have (or think I don't have) and would like, are:

- Heated front and rear seats. Winter is coming and it gets bloody cold here. What is needed for this? How can I easily work out if I have the plates and harness already, before I buy? Also, what am I looking for for the climate control unit with these controls? Any help would be fantastic!
Okay, so from using the Googler and not working I've found the unit on eBay, I just need to see if I have a double or single din CC unit now, so I'll look after work and then buy this mother!
Found a rear seat one on US eBay as well, assume that would be OK...? As I've bought that one haha

- Cruise control - This should have been an option already on there in my opinion. So let's fit it. http://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/Audi/A4-B ... Audi-A4-B6 is this all I would need? Obviously then need Vagcom afterwards to update the ECU though.

- Auto dipping rear view mirror - mate found a guide here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthrea ... DIY-(long) seems OK unless anyone knows otherwise?

Now, I'm not sure how to work out if I have these next few. I suppose going out and pulling bits out to see if they're wired, but hints welcomed.
- Heated washer jets (I'll pull the plug out on them, but should the S4 come standard with them?)
- Headlight washer jets - I have the bumper pieces, but does that mean anything? How are the used on the dash?
- Heated dimming / folding door mirrors? - Found this thread, which Biyitch is in also :bigblink: : http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a4-a4-cabr ... leted.html - so will these fold when locking the car, or is it just when you set them to fold from inside? Tips!!

- Cooled glovebox... found the guide for this here: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int48.shtml - nice and easy that one!

- Rear parking sensors - the kit from here: http://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/Audi/A4-B ... Audi-A4-8E - this looks OK and pretty straight forward.

So, any tips welcomed or any trick little extras I've missed?

Your best bet is to find DIY guides on audi-sport.net since all the A4 crew are missing most of these goodies.

I think heated washer jets / wing mirrors are standard but you need to press the demister button to activate them.

You can activate the headlight washer jets by holding the windscreen wiper jets on for over a second.

If you rotate the wing mirror adjustment knob 180 degrees so the line points backwards the mirrors will fold if you have that function. It's rare though. I have it - it's good but only works below about 10 mph so you can't fold them whilst you're driving. That's stupid cause you need it when you get some <beep> hooning at you down a thin country lane.

Only in later models with MMI (B8 on?) can you have the mirrors fold on alarm on/off. That's why I was interested in that Audizine thread.

Good testing info Biyitch, I'll nip out later and try these things and see what I have. Shame they don't dip on alarm off/on as that would be perfect!

My afternoon will be spent on audi-sport then!

Thanks for all your help biyitch, I know I'm fast becoming that annoying kid in class that doesn't STFU! :bash:

No worries. I had to find out all this stuff the same way - over several months though; not all in one go!

I'm massively impatient. Can you tell? I'm annoyed that the Climate Control unit I want has 3 days left. WHY NO BUY IT NOW?

It is the single DIN CC unit, right?

Bought a Climate Control unit today and a cruise control stalk. Will amass the parts eventually.

Yanked the RNS-D out last night to see what I was up against. This is the first time fit results.

Excuse the shitty marks all over it from my fingering. I need to remove that god awful handsfree kit now, and trim some metal off the back, as well as a little "fettling" with the plastic bits I attached hitting the metal cage. Will use some special techniques to try and get it properly snug in there. More to come...

Also, I haven't received the foam backed tape I need, which is why you can see some foam overlap in the top corners. I just slapped something in there to gauge the gap size. Long way to go but it's coming along.

You may need a new Steering Column Control Module if you want cruise control - depends whether the one you already have is cruise compatible.

There's a (lengthy) thread on Tyresmoke.net about the cruise retrofit here. I knocked up a little guide about how to do it a while back - I'll try to dig it out.

EDIT: I've found the guide - I've put it on Google Docs [here]. Let me know if it works...
