Yea, they're not bad! I think I prefer the sound of the fast intentions ones though, think I could get them for a similar price as well including delivery. FI ones seem a bit more raspy, I quite like that.

I'm right next to Germany, yep. Take the kids bowling there all the time ha!

I've ordered a USB OTG cable, a USB hub (for the glove box, external HDD etc.), a facial plate, power cables and some fibreglass and plastic filler. Should be enough to get me started anyway. I haven't found anywhere that does the docks yet, so will wait for those too.

Then need to look for a small amp and somewhere to put it and how to make it look OEM as possible.

Thinking about this, how does the Bose set up work? Is there an amp that powers speakers and sub? Or just the sub? If I can get away with just using that amp instead it would be a help. Is this in the boot also?

Merci.

Had a reply from ocarbon and JHM. Think I'll order the carbon trim...

The Bose system uses Bose speakers (I assume since the logo is on the grills), an amp and sub in the driver's side panel in the side of the boot and a specific Bose EQ.

The amp powers all the speakers and the sub. You see the pin diagram here.

Yes mate, that's perfect. Exactly what I needed. Massive thanks!

So, I'm hoping I can have it nice and easy and just use this bluetooth adapter plugged in to the amp, which would connect to the nexus. What could possibly go wrong? http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless ... =pd_cp_e_0 something like that, I think...

Now, where is my soldering iron and dremel...

The French postal system is made up of several blind dwarfs, pissed on pernod, so the chances of any of this turning up soon are slim, annoyingly. :boohoo:

OK, so reading through that and looking at the diagrams, the line outs shown on there are...? The equivalent RCA? There is no line in RCA on the amp at all? Is this the only plug that is on the amp?

Cheers man, big help for working it all out.

Get an xcarlink with aux input / USB. I've got one in my '6 and I put one of these in my mate's S4 (but the iPod version). Plus you can have bluetooth hands free with it.

Correct.

You'd have to dismantle the connector or splice the wiring.

I would but then I'd have to keep the original head unit, which I don't like in the first place :P

Looks like I'll have to get busy with the soldering iron and attempt not to set the place on fire! I can see me crapping off this Bose amp and going for one that actually has outputs I can use. Or getting someone I know to do the wiring... that might be an idea.

What head unit is it? RNS-D?

Yep. I know I could go for the E, but as long as I do a decent job on the surround and fitment of this, it will offer way more than the stock head units.

If I want I can go all funky with a OEM looking skin like this:

Found here: http://www.mp3car.com/road-runner/10499 ... -skin.html

But at the moment I have it set up on this:
Image

Of which, those not set can be set to anything you like, which also has different pages, so I have one set for navigation and one for music.

Not only that, with the OBD connector, I can switch to live engine info as well as fault codes etc on configurable dashboards, like:

Image

That's the aim anyway... I've managed to get an app that allows the screen to be flipped to landscape on the home screen (which it isn't default) and an app called Llama which sets actions on conditions.
So I have set one that says, when the unit is receiving charge, keep the screen on at x brightness etc. also will hopefully auto connect to the bluetooth receiver but not got that to test yet.
Also, when it loses power signal, turn off bluetooth, wifi and stop music playing, then screen lock and dim.

First couple of bits have arrived.

OBD II bluetooth connector is here and in:

The surround is here too, which as you can see, isn't too far off, really. I have a plan!

USB hub has arrived, but not being a powered one, I think I'll buy one with power, as I heard a non powered one will not do more than one USB connection.

Just need the USB OTG cable to arrive, the hard shell case and the fibreglass now. Hoping I can get away with dremel and plastic welding as much as possible.

Oh, and I ordered this yesterday as well...

As my drivers side has wear on the handle, thought for 25quid it was well worth it.

Huh, I didn't think you could get them off the door cards without destroying them. Maybe that's just on the A6.

I bloody hope so, unless I end up doing the same! That'd be a pain in the arse.

Should be possible, says Google: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthrea ... el-Removal

Or, as that pretty much says, I'll be swearing at the thing, twatting it with a screwdriver for about an hour.

I was so close to adding the cat back system, but figured that was harder to hide when it arrived in the post! This, I will hide somewhere... claim it's the new freezer she wanted or something. :P
