Happy S4 story you say???

Well my RNS-E satnav has been on the fritz for some time, saying "Unreadable Disk".. so i asked a few questions on ASN, and then followed these simple instructions:-

Remove radio with relevant keys, take the top of with 2x big screws on each side & 3x small screws on the top, once lids of, you'll see drive (hopefully encased in a plastic clear housing, if not then this maybe why laser head is so dirty?), top left corner should have a little route through into mechanics too reach in with a very minimal damp tongue dabbed bud head & wipe the laser head which should be clearly seen in the middle round motor part, looks like a small glass eye as such, when wiped a few times, turn bud round & wipe again with the dry end, test unit in car with lid still off to make sure all ok & then re-fit accordingly.

And I was encouraged by how easy the removal looked on here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0LXQqf- ... re=related

Hey presto, all is good again... my first fix in over two yrs of ownership, that hasn't cost me money = one very happy goose :biggrin3:

Mine did the same thing when I first got it. I used one of those lens cleaning CDs in it, and hey presto - slick operation returned.

I tried that first (a few months back), but no joy... it's hard to get the nav disk to do anything, as there's no unit control buttons for that slot to make it play all the way thru.

either way, a very satisfying repair
