Much difference with the remap back on ?

I got 357 with downpipes, cats, rear box, etc and 387 with the chip. It's a little down so I'll keep an eye on it. In take temps were 29C so this may have affected it.

I think it's lost a little of the smoothness from the software but I've only driven it back so I'll see how that goes before giving a full assessment.

I was planning on getting exhaust and cats for mine but I'm not sure I can justify spending £2k for only an additonal 13bhp though. :?

Seems a bit weird when you consider THIS

That's exactly the same parts. I'd of expected the parts to make more difference and the chip a lot less.

Strange indeed. :sekret:

Scotty

Check the RR results for the 2 runs and see if there is a difference in the losses. Also have a look at the Wheel HP and compare between the 2.

What was AMD's reaction?

"About right, a little lower than some we've seen".

I said I expected the hardware to have made more difference and the chip less and I was told it was about right.

Paul,

Mine ran over 355bhp with just the backbox and NO cats / downpipe, but with the induction kit fitted...

Surprised to see the chip makes so much difference (30bhp) so will definately be getting that done now... I'm hopeful for a solid 380bhp with my choice of chip (haven't decided between APR or AMD yet, but erring towards the former with a proper Optimax programme on it, and a free trial...)

Interesting indeed, Miltek themselves quote power gains similar to QST.

Now that you have had it back for a few days does the car feel 30bhp quicker with the chip ? I understand the principle behind chipping a turbo engine (ie my S3 got +35ish bhp and a wallop of tourque) but I dont understand how that translates to NA engines ??.

I have a CAT back on my S4 btw and did notice a slight increase in power when I had it fitted (and the glorious noise of course) so I would imagine +30bhp is pretty noticeable.

I'd say it feels like 10-15bhp. I'll be talking to AMD soon as it's also not as smooth as the Audi program before chipping. They expected it to be even smoother.

Let us know how you get on with AmD. I didnt realise APR do a remap but then again I cant find anything on their site about it.

My S4 is getting a new master and slave cylinder which apparently stops the spurious burning smell some other owners have been getting when changeing gear. If all is not well when this is done its rejection fest for me !!

ScoTTy - here's an interesting one to throw into the mix...

I was enquiring from the Service Manager @ Hitchin as to why it took so long to do my car. They've booked 58 hours against it, which by my reckoning is at least £5k in labour alone.

Knowing it only took your dealer "a couple of days" I was interested...

Apparently, to fix this problem "quickly", some dealers have done a full engine replacement. Which is allegedly quicker than removing the old one, taking it apart, fixing it and replacing it...

Whether she's talking bollocks or not, I've no idea - but it was interesting nonetheless. If you are down on power and the car feels markedly different, maybe (and it is just maybe) its because you need to run in a new engine again...

Interesting but I don't think so. Many of the guys on Audiworld have had it done and all in short time scales. Somehow I can't see the Audi bean counters giving everyone a new engine for a noise made by a little pulley.

But then again....

Is there some sort of recall for noisy S4 B6 engines? I have a high pitched noisy pulley "sort of noise" when the car starts from cold for the first five minutes; or is this something else altogether?

I've looked around the forum for more info but I can only find this mention of the work being done at Audi's cost...
