Thinking of moving on.

As some of you may be aware my car has been off the road for a while due to broken chain tensioner. It is being fixed as we speak but I now am sort of in the mind of loss of confidence in the car. I'm toying with the idea of selling and moving on to something else. Had a look at a very nice 2003 tdi Range Rover today. I may well change my mind once I get the car back just wanted to get a few opinions on what other people think or what they would do in my circumstances.

Sorry to hear about the tensioners and I think you're wise to consider your options. On a happier note, at least the big job will be done and your V8 should be good for many more miles. The S4 V8 is a wonderful beast but it was overshadowed by the sublime RS4 and this, combined with high cost of ownership, has had a serious impact on values. I'm looking to replace my black B6 avant with a B8 S4 or A8 4.2 petrol (I absolutely hate diesel engines!) but the low trade-in values are hard to swallow (4-5k!). I drove an s-tronic B8 S4 last weekend - it was most excellent - I recommend you try one if you haven't already. Hope the repair goes well.
