So my battery made it all the way through the winter [sometimes without me driving the car for 6 weeks] and it always fired the first time. The UK's in the middle of a 'heatwave' at the moment with temperatures of 30 degrees for the last two weeks and now my battery has decided to die....weird!
Anyway I decided to replace it myself after reading the forum here...it looked simple enough....

When I removed cover running the width of the engine bay, I found a strut brace ( I guess only fitted to Cabs?) running the width of the car blocking access to the battery clamp, but above this (I guess as the car's RHD) there a rubber [but fairly rigid conduit] running the width blocking access to the f***ing strut brace. What should be a simple task is looking like a dealer job where no doubt they will charge me stupid money.
Question is does anyone know of a guide detailing how to change the battery on a UK cab S4, how do you gain access to the strut brace to remove it - can you bend the conduit out of the way(I don't even know what's in it but it certainly looks like you could break a lot of stuff at once if you're rough with it). There's also a bolt securing the strut to the firewall which looks like a massive torx (I'm talking 10mm size) bolt I guess to stop anyone from changing the battery themselves...
Nice one Audi - another world beating design by the way...
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Re: HELP! The Worlds most complicated battery install
Looking at those the conduit shold be able to be moved enough to get access to the strut brace bolts. I bought a tool for the wheel bearing bolts and the head was similar to that large bolt. Bought the tool from gsf. The pipe coming out underneath is a vacuum pipe so should not be attached to the conduit. Hope this helps if only a little bit. Failing that where abouts in the uk are you?

Re: HELP! The Worlds most complicated battery install
The first time I looked at the link I could few a few pics but now only 1? If you are on about that rubber bit, just move it mate. Looks the same as my old s4. The only issue you will have is lifting the battery over the engine without putting it down.
