BBK 4.2 engine for my s4 needed!

Hello All,

Long time lurker yadda yadda..

I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere that might have an S4 4.2 v8 (Engine code BBK) ?

I have managed to acquire a nice 2004 S4 where the engine has dropped a valve. It's too good to break, but the engine isn't in a very good way. Will post some gory pics soon, but basically it's dropped a valve and made a mess of one of the banks and the cylinder

Silly me thought '4.2 v8 engine, must be easy to get hold of' but no.. it would seem not.. So if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great. I believe a rebore and new head would be prohibitively expensive due to the coating on the block and cost of a head on it's own..

I am very lucky to have use of a ramp out of hours and some master techs to pick brains off and to steer me in the right direction and quite fancied a little project..

I also drive a 190k 2.5 tdi allroad which (touch wood) has been a great workhorse..

Sorry to hear the news. Other than the usual suspects, ebay.co.uk and .de/scrap yards etc, check out stolen recovery auctions. Worst case is you pop along to Audi for a brand spanker. To my knowledge the bores cannot be reworked due to their relative thinness, special liner coating. Plus the type of honing required is supposedly specialised due to the coating.

I will keep an eye out over here and send a PM if anything come available.

cheers, they are all a little expensive to make it worthwhile.. looking for something around 2k.. i've seen good engines go for less than this so I guess I just need to be patient..
