Rear wiper not working

Post by tlicense » Wed Jun 20, 2012 7:57 pm

OK so my rear wiper isn't working, so having read a few posts the majority of people seem to suggest the motor is probably shot.

So I've just had the motor out and connected up to a 12V power supply, and guess what... it worked!

The front wipers are working fine, so it's not the fuse, so I'm guessing it's either the wiring or the relay.

So before I go about pulling all the trim off of the back again... can anyone tell me where the relay is located? I've read somewhere that it is under the seat, and then read somewhere else that it's built into the motor unit???

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

Oh I should also add that the rear washer jet works fine, so I don't think it's the wiring to the hatch, unless the one wire for the wiper is broke and the rest are OK.

Have you checked for good power and earth at the plug? That is your first step mate. No point checking all the other stuff if you haven't checked there.
Trying to think if i had to change my motor on my old one :?

Yes, I'm getting 12V on what appears to be pin 1 and the other 3 pins are connected to ground.

Am very confused about this now! :?

Seized mechanism? Can you move the wiper arm when the motor isn't in place?

Rear wiper not working

When you do your electrical Checks, you have the motor/plug/circuit all connected, and operated right..?

If so, If you have a 12v supply and a good ground then it can only be the motor itself.

Either way, I'll have a look at the CFD on Monday though and get back to you.
